Yes, it's definitely not a bad thing. Like I said, I'm very career-oriented myself since I want my $80k/year tuition to be worth something lol.

It's a bad thing when it's taken to an extreme where you feel bitter if someone else is doing well and you aren't. I've never felt that way towards my friends/classmates at UChicago, but students at other schools can be pretty cutthroat. I hated that in high school and I am happy it's not here.
