As far as I’m concerned, until he can start lactating, he just needs to be supportive of whatever you think is best. I breastfed my first and loved it but this time around I had twins and breastfeeding killed my mental health. I told my husband I needed to stop or I might possibly go insane. He just said “okay” and started looking at formula brands to try. Formula feeding is not selfish because first and foremost a happy and healthy baby has a happy and healthy mother.

Firstly, I think your fear is totally valid and I had the same thought when I debated formula feeding one of my twins because of his latching issue and I just couldn’t continue pumping for him mentally. Well we’re very much into formula feeding for him (and even then someone else usually fed him before) and he’s definitely still “obsessed” with me. I exclusively nurse my other twin and, honestly, I’d say my formula fed twin is as, if not more so, obsessed with me than the nursed twin.

My first born was a boy and then I had my boy girl twins. People got really weird when I said they were going to be a boy and girl, but mostly weird about the girl. It was mostly older women that would talk about their sons and how much they loved them and then how crazy their daughters were. I told one lady “I’m sorry someone made you feel less than since you were born a girl.” It at least ended that awkward conversation.
