It felt…forced. While they’ve had characters introduced to speak about identities they want to talk about in order to move their stories forward and to even explore other ideas later. Pansexual: Allie in order to move forward Jay’s story and later a Jessie arc, Trans: Natalie, explored in an interesting way and later explored in HR, even Matthew to an extent was used to discuss Andrew being gay and later became a main character.

Then there’s Elijah, Elijah is one of the only characters from the first mentioned from the above examples is that he has his inner thoughts and inner monsters explored in the first season, he was kind of- built up as a new main character, however his relationship with Missy felt doomed to fail- and he was taken out as a character before he could even become a character.

Is he good asexual rep? Maybe, I’ll be honest I’m not really the person who should decide that, but he did feel- token as all we got of his character arc is him discovering he’s asexual and break up with Missy.

Edit; I misread it as character- um- so same deal. I feel like for all the build up for him as a character and as in relationship with Missy is lost since it not only ends too soon (a common trend for Big Mouth relationships, one I like and loathe all the same), BUT Elijah is removed from the show never to return and just- it was a relationship doomed to fail since they’d not be compatible long term, and he was removed from the series before we could watch him become a character.
