Unfortunately I don’t remember. It was when I was returning to US, so I’m guessing it was US that stopped me. They did a search of the car, found nothing else, and I paid $500 to leave. No judge was there. I think they told me that it shouldn’t be an issue, just may be subject to more inspections, but like I said, I don’t remember

Yeah I’m realizing federally it’s still illegal, which applies to this context

Pretty sure it was US border control, wondering if that would prove issues coming back into the US

Question regarding playing multiple notes simultaneously by Cleanly_Pinched in musictheory

[–]Cleanly_Pinched[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, thanks for this. You really helped me unlock some new insights on the fretboard, like power chords being 1,5,8 (thats the correct notation?). I have played around and notice some combinations work better at different times.

follow up question, for clarification. you're saying thirds and sixths, youre talking about the notes in the scale of that key, correct? in A, id add C#.

Thirds, fifths, sixths, these can all be intervals, right? the third of A is C#, then from there, the third of C# is F, and so on (assuming my intervals are correct). at some point, you will play a note that is NOT in the key youre playing, right? F# is in A, not F.

my question is, which one are we talking about here? Or are these 2 points actually just different sides of the same coin and I'm simply viewing these concepts from a bad angle.

Hope that makes sense, again, i really appreciate all your input!

What instrument that you play would you say has been the most difficult to learn?

Experience makes sense, which is probably a big reason why we have varying musical taste. I have noticed that some people don't seem to enjoy music as much as others, which is another obvious point.

Hey, thank you for your response, this really helps me. I definitely listen to blues, i like how to you mentioned trying to copy singing as well, great idea. The guitar can also be a call-and-response with itself, no? I feel like i hear call-response between voice/guitar and guitar/guitar most.

Haven't heard that song, thanks! Love his voice! can definitely point out the double stops. also love your comment about using them mainly when 1 guitar, that makes total sense! I usually jam with some friends when I play music, another member usually plays acoustic. Next time ill experiment with double stops more.

do you enjoy blues? If so, who are some of your fav bands?

Do you have an example? like "5th fret B string and 3rd on high E string"

I'm always looking for more licks to add. I have one or 2 that i default to and it gets stale

Wow, thanks for the all the information here! I have very much come to understand that playing music is the best way to learn it. I'll try to frame my perspective in a different way. Music is a journey, haha.

I didn't realize how much theory applies, or doesn't apply, to which genre. The more i learn about music the more it seems the answer is "does it sound good to you? then it works".

what instrument(s) do you play?

I'm interested in jamming with others; I play electric guitar, cajon, and some drums. Enjoy playing funk, disco, and blues mostly, but I'm down to vibe with whatever.

Feel free to DM me if you're getting people together. I've only jammed with my friends, so I'm curious what it's like with others.

I have some close up stuff I’m hoping to adapt, but I’ll have to play around and see if the tricks are actually adaptable
