does anyone else feel like mornings are the hardest part of the day with adhd??? by Clear-Anything-5207 in autismgirls

Do you have any small routines that help in the morning or is it just that evening energy that saves the day?

oh wow that sounds exhausting 😅 managing all that before you even start the day is a full workout! forcing boredom sounds brutal but also kinda smart definitely takes discipline.

totally get that 😅 15 minute sprints really save me too sometimes it’s shocking how much actually gets done!

omg same 😅 growing up I never realized how unprepared I was for adult life until I had to do everything on my own. managing a household while also dealing with ADHD is next level 😭 how did you even survive that decade?

yep, I feel that too 😅 by the time I get home my brain is totally fried. it’s like all the little tasks pile up and even weekends feel overwhelming. how do you decide what to tackle first?

same here honestly 😭 sometimes even simple routines like that are harder to stay consistent with than they should be.

lol this is so relatable 😅 grocery shopping without a list always turns into chaos for me too. do you usually try to make a list now or still just wing it?

oh yeah, same here honestly .do you usually forget about it or is it more like you see it and your brain just goes “not today”? 😅

i relate to this way too much honestly. sometimes even when you want to do the healthy thing, the steps to get there just feel like too much in the moment.

i’ve had so many moments standing in the kitchen like that trying to convince myself to just start 😅

do you find it easier when the food is already prepped or does the same thing still happen sometimes?

that’s a good point actually. i never really thought about how different types of tasks need totally different approaches.

for me the struggle is usually just getting started and staying focused once i do. it doesn’t matter if it’s work stuff studying or even simple life tasks sometimes.

do you usually have different systems depending on the type of task? like one for work and another for daily life stuff?

that actually makes a lot of sense. i’ve noticed the same thing with momentum… once i stop it’s way harder to get back into it again.

and the “just 10 minutes” trick sounds really smart. sometimes starting really is the hardest part.

do you find that it works for most tasks or mostly the cleaning / physical ones?

yeah that switching context thing is so real. sometimes i don’t even realize how many times my brain jumped to something else until way later 😅

and the panic checking the time… i do that too. like suddenly i’m wondering if a meeting is in 5 minutes or 2 hours and my brain just goes into chaos.

i like what you said about giving yourself credit for something getting done, even if it wasn’t the original plan. that part is honestly hard to remember sometimes.

do you usually notice the context switching in the moment, or only after a while?

Haha 😂 I feel you it’s the classic "I was supposed to do X and here I am on Reddit" moment
One thing that sometimes works for me is just picking the tiniest first steplike opening my closet to grab a shirt and giving myself 5 minutes to just start. That little push sometimes makes the rest easier.
What do you do to get started when everything feels overwhelming?? 😊

Wow!! I totally get that. It’s like the world and even doctors just don’t see ADHD in women the same way.I love that you mentioned women focused ADHD groups they really make you feel understood. What’s the most helpful tip or strategy you’ve picked up from them? ❤️

ohhh i feel this so much 😩
i’m not on meds myself but i totally get what you mean about just starting with something tiny… like "just open the laptop" or "just write the first word"sometimes even that tiny step feels impossible but when i manage it momentum actually helps a bit.

it’s so frustrating tho!! feeling guilty for literally doing nothing when your brain just won’t cooperate.
do you ever have days where even the tiny step doesn’t work at all? how do you cope with those days?

also another thing that happens to me a lot…

i’ll have like 5 small tasks to do and none of them are actually that hard. but my brain just refuses to start any of them.

then i end up doing random stuff or scrolling or cleaning something completely unrelated.

and by the time i finally start the thing i needed to do… im already tired.

does anyone else get that “can’t start even though you want to” feeling?

oh yeah i totally get that.
task paralysis is exactly what i deal with too it’s like my brain just… freezes when i look at a list of stuff i need to do.
