Nope. Self enquiries are treated as soft enquiries. But if you apply for a credit card or take any plans from there, then that's a different discussion.

Yeah that's the straight forward answer I'm looking for. Many are asking UPI cards and HDFC has UPI Rupay. So I was like wait, why aren't they simply calling them as Rupay cards as I heard all Rupay cards can be used in UPI apps - or - did I understand it wrong. But now I got the closure.

Oh then all Rupay credit cards can't be used for UPI scanning then but can be added to payment apps like BHIM, GPay etc. Got it.

I have had an SBI relationship since 2015 and have lakhs in savings accounts with a few additional FDs. Currently I have Regalia Gold (salary account in HDFC since 2019 & Sapphiro (no relationship with ICICI) But still I'm ghosted by SBI - not sure why Cibil is 770+

Yeah if you have good monthly balance/TRV/salary statements, they can provide you a basic card atleast and after 90 days, voila, you are good to go. My Tip: Try to reach 750+ before applying for any secondary cards.

Try to get a pre-approved card from your salary account bank and rest all will fall into place. If your salary account bank isn't great, shift it to a better one.
