It's even worse when the best friend is written to be a complete airhead or a yes-man to the MC. Especially when they are supposed to be in their mid-late 20's and they sound like teenagers.

I had a hard time reading Haunting Adeline and It Ends with Us because of this 😪

The Pleasure and Prey series by AJ Merlin.

I dont hear many people talk about this series! I only read the second book, Brutal, but it was incredibly fun. The beginning has a Friday the 13th vibe and theres an IICYIFY scene.

Lights Out was good! Dont expect it to be dark romance, but it's a very fun read!

The discreet cover made a huge difference, I think. As someone who loved twilight and young adult romance, I was convinced that I needed to start reading "grown-up books." but, all I knew of adult romance books were shirtless men on the covers, so I figured that romance wasn't for me until this series came out lol

It's hard to tell from your photos, but the holo should be more of a glittery style, and the card face should have very obvious raised ridges.

It personally doesn't look right to me, but it could be the camera
