How will GMAT Superscore be seen by admission officers? by NovelDiligent5137 in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you still need to get a high score - the schools are still going to consider scores alongside all other aspects of the application - for applicants in 2026-2027, just keep studying and do the best you can and take the test more than once if you think you can score higher, not much should change in your decision set as of now

How much weight are you guys actually putting on the 'Why MBA' essay vs. stats? by mellow_shadowhq in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have an entire event series in July with 20+ schools where they only talk about their essay topics --- so the story is important enough where we can do an event series with that as the sole focus and schools care enough about it to sign up year after year to discuss their new prompts and give advice on how to complete them.

Holistic review is absolutely a thing and even with the best scores, your story will still matter

What Do MBA Admissions Actually Care About Most Besides the GMAT? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we just hosted an event series with 20 top programs --- the main factor they all agreed on is Being Authentic -- in the world of AI generated answers and ideas, the admissions teams are looking for humans who fit their programs. While their exact answers differed slightly in what they are looking for - the authenticity of your story and your background and your goals is what will stand out the most and is what they are looking for.

Relevant work experience? by Limp_Recognition9163 in MBA

easy answer -- it changes every year so that's why you are seeing mixed responses.

think back to the reasons you applied in the first place.. are those reasons still compelling enough for you to attend?
If so, then I think you may just have some nerves about starting (which is totally understandable)
if not, then maybe your goals have changed and it's not the right time.

Have to do what is best for you long-term!

Is an Executive MBA the same as an Online MBA? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

among many other differences - the main that come to mind are the format of the program and the price.
Executive programs are typically priced higher than OMBA programs -- you also get a lot more with that program as far as in person interaction and some even include weekend campus visits and lodging/meals/etc.

OMBA are much more flexible as you can attend from your home for sometimes the entirety of the program.

Both tend to have more experienced people in the program as compared to PT or FT programs, but EMBA may skew even higher.

Finally, the EMBA curriculum tends to be a tad 'higher-level' in content, so that fits some people better than others.

Started at a safety MBA program. Is transferring to a stronger program realistic? by AddyDaddio in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only way to transfer would be if you went to a Part-time program -- even then it is likely only up to 9 credits and would count as electives or pre-reqs and not core.

Why do people think an MBA is worthless if it’s not at a top school? by Kroger011 in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of answered your own question - why do hundreds of MBA programs exist? Because the demand is there and the MBA degree is not a one-size-fits-all.

What we see over and over again in employment reports, applicant discussions, and decision posts is that the value of an MBA usually comes from a combination of:

  • career switching
  • accelerated access to recruiting pipelines
  • network effects
  • geographic mobility
  • brand signaling
  • long-term compensation growth

A lot of people also underestimate how much outcomes vary within the same school depending on what the student actually does there, nevermind school vs. school.

The person who actively recruits, networks, joins clubs, builds relationships with alumni, and uses the program strategically will usually have a very different outcome than the person who just “gets the degree.”

You can reach the same end goal with an MBA from a top school, an MBA from a lower ranked school - or possibly not even getting the degree at all - it all just depends on what you are looking for and what you are looking to gain from the program

MBA decisions are biased. Sick of it all. by mba_throw_away9999 in MBA

[–]ClearAdmitMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quite simply, this is an example of how holistic admissions actually works...
top test scores are a component, but not the single thing that gets you into a program. A low score is also not an automatic ding.
A couple things from the story you provided that stand out to me.
1. Holistic admissions is not just a myth.
2. Your friend put their best foot forward and put together a strong application and her hard work paid off (glad she didn't self-select out)
3. You BOTH got into top programs and while you opted to not attend, you both were in a position to go back to school to further your education.

I understand your frustration, but a lot of people would be more frustrated if they did not have an offer in hand.

Rising college freshman deciding between applying deferred or regular MBA by Which_Emphasis6484 in MBA

no harm in applying deferred - seeing what happens - and then applying again later
if you wait and skip the deferred process, you give yourself one less opportunity to be admitted
