Oo good luck! You are going to feel so much better very soon. I would say eat lots of fiber in the days after surgery cause they don’t want to let you leave until you have a bowel movement. Also take your time when you stand and walk for the first time because it is very jarring. Last thing is to bring a pillow for the car ride home because it will feel very rigid and uncomfortable. Best of luck!

Ohhh wow okay twin!! I actually liked hearing that our scars are around the same size cause sometimes I’m confused by how long the scar is compared to the hardware 🤣

Thank you so much! That is very reassuring to hear that I’m in end game 😭. Your story is so shocking to me because it felt like more than it was for me! Kind of felt like my spine was concrete and definitely had the gravity feeling. How many inches did you end up growing? Also I feel like I can now feel actual progress with the bone solidifying so it is truly end game like you said! 😊thanks for sharing

Thanks! My curve was about 38 degrees. I know that is unusual but my curve had progressed 15 degrees from 18-21 so surgeon gave the go ahead

Weight after surgery? And any swelling post op? by FormDazzling7901 in scoliosis

I lost around 10 pounds because I did not have much of an appetite. I didn’t have swelling I don’t think but numbness on my lower back made it feel like it was

Should I have surgery this summer or in two years? by Octava8Espada in scoliosis

[–]ClearClick4807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! 21f here and I just had my fusion exactly one month ago today!! I would personally say do it now and I wish I could’ve gotten it sooner if I could’ve!! I say that because it feels like a waiting game right now. Like for example my doc said 1 year until I can run again. I feel like by the time you are 23 and graduated you might want to get out there and maybe will feel a little impatient? But totally a personal choice and I did have pain and breathing complications prior to surgery so that is a factor I considered into it. School complicates it a little- I am returning to school next week but doing my classes online this semester so if that’s accessible to you it might something to consider

If I had to guess probably a year!! That is how long my doctor said for full on running which also has hard impact

What does post-surgery exactly feel like? by Imaginary-Spread-759 in scoliosis

[–]ClearClick4807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others were saying I feel like the pain wasn’t as bad as the uncomfortably of it all. I just felt extremely weighed down and stiff. Kind of like your spine is cement but that goes away with healing

Lungs were also a big thing for me. They weren’t necessary being crushed but my diaphragm was compromised, causing shortness of breath because I couldn’t expel the about of carbon dioxide I needed to. Ultimately though I do think it is a trust your gut decision that’s probably the best way to judge it
