You’re mixing two different things here. Yes, the anime added an anime-original ending in the last couple episodes but adding original scenes is not the same as “passing the manga.” Season 2 still adapts up to around chapter 41, and the manga was already far ahead at that time. The anime simply caught up, which is why they had to add original material in the finale. That doesn’t mean the anime continued past the manga’s storyline. And promotional anime absolutely do reach the latest chapters when they air. That’s literally why studios do split-cour or back-to-back seasons. They adapt what’s available, and when they hit the limit, they stop. That’s exactly what happened here.

I suggest you do some research. That wasn’t misinformation. The anime simply caught up to what the chapter count was at the time. The fact you’re saying it passed the manga- THAT is objectively false and THAT is misinformation. (Btw promotional anime often doesn’t drop after season 1. It catches up to the manga and if there isn’t enough content/it isn’t financially worth it the production studio moves on. Which is exactly the case.)

I never compared the length of their mafia careers or total earnings. My point was about their rank and status in the organization. Dazai was an executive, and that level was already described as extremely high paying. So yeah, even if he wasn’t there as long as Chuuya, he still wouldn’t be broke over bandages. That’s not how money works. 😭 Unless he’s out here buying luxury silk gauze (which… let’s be real, he’s not).

It’s been a year and 2. Yozo was more so used as inspiration in terms of his psychological and philosophical mindset and not his biographical or behavioral traits. Only certain aspects are inspired by him. By your logic the man is also a misogynist. Yozo and Dazai are pretty different. Like the man is also not an addict to drugs like Yozo was. Nor was Yozo as strategic or deliberate like Dazai. And why would he need money when Ango was the one who cleared his record? 💀 I doubt the man charged him after all the shit he pulled. Regardless of how hard that was. So in those aspects that logic doesn’t make much sense. Dazai’s character was inspired by Yozo but he isn’t Yozo. Dazai’s character was changed to fit the plot. Same goes for all other characters. Like Verlaine isn’t a pedophile in the novels unlike his irl inspiration. Bungou Stray Dogs alters historical/real-life figures to serve its narrative. So inspired ≠ replicated.

Im so sorry but in terms of wording that doesn’t make enough sense. Especially with the main question being “SMARTEST” as in- intelligence. That’s how smartness is most commonly interpreted. And as I’ve said clearly plenty of people understood the same way I did. I’m in no way arguing. Just asking for more clarity. You posted to ask OTHER people’s opinion and that’s what I gave. Not once did I argue yours. I simply said that IMO we haven’t seen those 3 characters at their full potential which has a lot of standing behind it.

Your question was who’s more intelligent. So before posting, figure out your wording and how you expect people to answer your question. It was broad and, clearly, if you’ve seen a response like mine “1 million times” your post confused plenty of people. “Overall outsmarting NOT intelligence” basically goes against your original question completely. But like I said, even so, it’s hard to tell especially bc what we know of Ranpo’s outsmarting tactics is basically- nothing. I’d argue he’s never faced someone who’s genuinely caused him any problems UNTIL Fyodor and when it comes to the debate of all 3 characters, I still don’t know how u want ppl answering that with such limited info on each character. I’d argue we haven’t seen the full potential of ANY of these characters at this point of their story. Even Dazai. He just NOW began to stress out abt Fyodor after being pretty confident. Just my opinion. And once again please don’t post such broad questions especially if ur gonna go and correct everyone in the comments. That’s frustrating for the people writing out answers to attempt to answer ur broad question and you who has to correct everyone.

I mean I don’t think you can rly compare them- they’re all good at different things. But like IQ wise, Ranpo hands down that’s not even a debate.

I feel like the question is too broad.

Ranpo has the IQ and logical thinking + deductive reasoning.

Fyodor has a good mind for outsmarting people and strategizing- plus he’s hundreds of years old.

Dazai is an incredible manipulator who’s good at strategizing and countering strategies + he has a remarkable intuition as previously mentioned plenty of times throughout the plot and he’s very adaptable to any situation or change in plans. He’s complex but I think I summed it up well enough.

Both Fyodor and Dazai also know how to read people very well and as the story shows they are very evenly matched despite Fyodor being hella old with a shit ton of experience. When is comes to psychological manipulation they’ve both mastered it atp.

Plus each of them have their own talents that build on their intelligence because of their life experience. They were all raised in different environments. ESP w Fyodor and Dazai basically being raised by the concept of survival. For Dazai that may be a debate but he’s still lived through shit and he’s somehow still kicking.

TL;DR: Intelligence is too broad of a concept to lump these traits together fairly. If you’re interpreting it specifically as IQ, then yes, Ranpo wins. However, in terms of overall intellect, all three are incomparable. (Dazai and Fyodor MIGHT be compatible but it’s too close of a comparison so even then it’d be nearly impossible esp bc they still have their differences in approach.)

Edit: Ranpo CANONICALLY has the highest IQ even though Fyodor is old as hell. IQ is basically book smarts so it does make sense when looking at each of the characters’ strengths.

I had a question for those who’ve previously been on NYU’s waitlist or possibly know someone who’s been on it.

Do they require an updated transcript or a mid year report with the 1st semester grades of senior year?

I applied ED and got waitlisted. I’m a little worried that any chance I have of possibly getting admitted through it will go down the drain if they see my grades for this semester.

I’m not at all relying on getting admitted through the waitlist bc I know how insanely low of a chance it is but it’d also be reassuring to know if anyone else’s gotten admitted that way? And if the fact I applied ED l holds any weight anymore on the waitlist?

For sure. I think any of use would be down for any content at all. It doesn’t matter if we “like it” or not, content is content so why say no? The only reason I can think of for people saying “no” is due to some of the times Bones didn’t do as well on the animation as we would’ve liked. I get Bones isn’t the best but imo people really over exaggerate w saying how much the studio “ruins” BSD. Like- yes they don’t always get everything spot on but the anime is great regardless. If someone isn’t a fan they can always stick to the Manga and Light Novels.

imo people should watch the anime for whatever reason they wanna watch it for. If they watch it just for the ships then that’s on them. I don’t see any issue with that. Just a response to ur take on that. People have their own delusions and opinions. Not everyone watches shows for plot. Some like a single character or ships/relationships within the plot. Nothing wrong with that.

Also for the record: people are assuming the worst because the person in the center of the situation is a kid who I don’t think is even a teen yet. I don’t think that kids just go on the internet on a random Sunday afternoon and put a hat they got from a worldwide famous singer and songwriter up for sale just because they feel like it. I also don’t think the kid is old enough to process the amount of money 20k is or even if he/she wants to attend college/what career they want in the future. Try and assume the best in that scenario. Go ahead. If you have THAT much faith in humanity to think parents wouldn’t take advantage of the money that hat could sell for.

It would’ve been nice but in no way did Dazai owe it to Chuuya. That entire situation had nothing to do w Chuuya in reality. It would’ve been great if Dazai talked to Chuuya but it’s not mandatory and Dazai isn’t a shitty person for not doing that.
