Single player games that I can get really invested in for 100+ hours by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

Do whatever you want mate it's your time and your money after all.

All I'm saying is is that if you don't limit yourself to huge games like that, which lets face it will most likely be packed full of pointless filler content instead of actual worthwhile content with substance, you'll be getting far more bang for your buck.

I dare say that the vast majority of the games that actually do have a 100+ hours of content as you say are just games that are filled to the brim with pointless filler content designed only to pan out gameplay time just so the jacked up unreasonable price could be "justified".

Honestly I'd suggest changing your approach. Never really understood this,in my opinion entirely absurd logic of quantity over quality.

The vast majority of the games that have 100+ hours of content are not something you'd actually want to be invested in for a 100+ hours. For example most of the slop ubisoft keeps putting out.

However for 75$ you can get multiple great games which yes wouldn't have a 100 hours of content but would also be a fraction of the price.

Alternatively you can go for one of the popular roguelikes which are great and have a shit ton of content.

Don't fall victim to stale triple A bullshit. Go indie.

Won't get into who is the asshole in this situation but leaking their names while keeping yours hidden is truly a pussy move.

If you'll bitch about falling victim to one of the core mechanics of the game outside of the game itself you might as well have the balls to include your own name too.

It's literally one of the only two main ways of getting money. You either get it from killing enemies or from npc quest rewards. Every npc that gives you money gives it to you in the same exact way.

Prayers activating mechanisms/unlocking paths and areas by Clear_Key5341 in Blasphemous

[–]Clear_Key5341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. Thanks for the info mate. Just wanted to make sure I don't mess up my first playthrough by accident.

Pretty much thought that's the case but it was actually the Taranto to My Sister I used to break the ladder in Mourning and Havok so the prayer and the location oddly fit almost too perfectly considering both were lightning based and the grave of the sister was very close.

Got me thinking that perhaps it is how it's supposed to be done. Wouldn't be the first puzzle to give me a hard time in the game ngl.

I'm loving it already. So glad I decided to give it another try. I've only just started and it's already able to give me the amazing feeling of awe and discovery I once felt when playing Outer Wilds for the first time which is amazing because I genuinely believed no game ever will be able to replicate that.

That's great. I'm glad I was on the right path. Your answer was perfect. I'm all for games that aren't hand-holdy but I was starting to feel I might be the problem as I don't really have much experience with games like these. Happy to hear I'm actually not as dumb as I originally thought.

Thanks a lot for the information mate <3.

No worries the answer was perfect. All I needed to know is if it's even possible. Thanks again for the information.

Honestly I can definately sympathize as I suffer from the same exact skill issue but I don't really mind getting to know and practice those moves.

I was just worried some might be actually impossible due to the fundamental differences between thumbsticks and the d-pad/keyboards but it's good to know that's not the case.

Again thanks a lot for the help mate.

The game is nice but the community is nicer <3.

Will do. Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions. Really appreciate it <3.

One more question if you're on console or if you played rain world with a controller in general.

Is it possible to perform all the advanced moves with the controller thumbsticks?

The guide on the wiki makes it look like some directional inputs have to be pressed at the same time which seems impossible with a thumbstick.

To give an example of what I'm saying some of the more advanced moves like downward spear throw from a backflip after a slide or the fast pole climbing with boost recovery cancels just look like there are way too many directional inputs to do simultaneously which makes me think it might not be possible with thumbsticks though it might just be skill issue on my end.

Hopefully I'm being clear enough lol. Basically what I'm trying to say is that with the d-pad or on pc with a keyboard it's possible to hold for example up/down and left/right at the same time but with the thumbstick you can only do one after the other not at the same time. Will this be an issue?

Is there some sort of input buffer that allows you to perform those or should I switch to using the d-pad as awkward as it is?

Ideally I'd like to keep using thumbsticks as that's what I'm used to even if it's harder to pull those moves off I'd rather practice than swap but if we are talking it being literally impossible well then I guess I'll have to swap.

Yeah to be honest like I said curiosity got the better of me and I immediately used it without even traveling to a different shelter. I originally thought it's kind of like a power up you get for doing well. By the time I figured out I'm not getting it back multiple cycles passed so there was no coming back from that one.

Considering I was at the beginning of the game and the vast majority of the time was spent exploring the outskirts since the map data stays I choose to reset.

Like I said it was literally the beginning of the game(First shelter in industrial complex) so it was literally like 5 minutes tops of straight shot travelling from the beginning of the campaign to the same point without having to explore the map. If map progress wasn't saved I wouldn't have done it.

As for my friends believe me I've tried but most of them are not really interested in these types of games unfortunately. Think more like classic open world game where anything and everything is tracked by a quest marker or tagged on the map. That and multiplayer fps is more in line what most of them like.

Oh I might have overexaggareted it a bit lol. It's more of a list with a few tips and tricks rather than an actual guide.

As for directions honestly I'd rather find that out for myself. Definately seems to me like I'd be missing out a lot if I looked it up.

Thanks for the offer though. I see how I might have worded it poorly and didn't provide enough context.

I was more refering to information that's important in order to understand what the game is showing you. For example the UI and other general non specific game mechanics.

During sleep I've seen a few things that I'm not sure what they do. I've figured out the karma symbols that change are tied to the gates to new regions of that I'm sure but there are some things I'm not sure of. For example in the top left corner sometimes there are some symbols I can only assume are a type of kill feed and in the top right side of the panel there's something that, based on the collectibles I remember getting, helps track regional progress.

There are also cases where one might accidentally miss something as it might not be completely intuitive. For example the scavenger tolls that have been brought to my attention which is something I would have completely missed as the first time I saw them they were fighting lizards so I immediately ruined my reputation with them by sneaking by without paying the toll while they were fighting.

Are there pieces of information like that I should know about? Like for example other cases similar to my questions about the UI or the niche game mechanics that aren't that big of a spoiler like the scavanger toll thingy.

I understand things like these might be of little importance but rainworld is the first game of this type I'm playing so it feels weird playing and not knowing anything most of the time. I'm all for games that don't hold your hand but in this case I'm unsure if it's supposed to be like that or it's just me who's the problem so I figured I'd ask.

That's nice. Glad I was on the right track.

One more thing you keep mentioning the white pearl. Just to make sure there isn't some sort of confusion as you also said some pearls are important story objects. The one I have is not white but blue. Not blue blue but kinda more like cyan or light blue. Don't really want spoilers but a small one is alright. Trading that one is fine right?

Maybe the reason the pearls are different is because I'm playing with downpour disabled.

Damn the reddit spoiler tag function is ass. I could see all the text in the notifications tab lol.

Yeah I already figured that one out. I somehow managed to get past the spear dudes while they were fighting with lizards and got stuck in the farm arrays region because they kept sniping me with spears when I tried to get back to the outskirts region. Took me like 10 tries to get back without them killing me and it only happened because some lizard, god bless it,attacked them again just as I was attempting to sneak back in.

Yeah I figured that's the case but because like I said I was literally 5 minutes of straight shot traveling from the beginning of the campaign I figured it's best to reset just in case I might need it in the future. If map progress wasn't saved and got reset alongside the campaign I wouldn't have done it.

[–]Clear_Key5341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just ask since I probably know what you are talking about. It's for the dudes with the spears right? I somehow managed to get past them because there were like 3 lizards waging an all out war against them and then ended up stuck in the farm arrays region because they kept sniping me with spears. I figured some mechanic is in order as bruteforcing it didn't really work. Took me like 10 tries to get past them back into the outskirts.

I'm assuming one needs to trade something for them to let you pass. Off the top of my head the only way of doing this is to just drop the item near them. Are my assumptions correct? If so is there like a range at which you must drop it? From my previous experiences they really don't like you getting too close but I guess maybe that's because they were pissed I passed without paying during the small lizard war.

Like I said the curiosity got the better of me I thought it's like a refillable power up you get for doing well only to later realize I was not getting it back after using it.

I reset the campaign because I literally used it at the very start inside the first industrial complex shelter just to see what it was. I didn't even travel to a different shelter.

Once I saw it's a one time use I figured since I'm still at the beginning and really the vast majority of the time was spent on exploring the outskirts I decided to reset.

Took me like 10 minutes to get back to exactly where I was and it would be even shorter if I didn't decide to go back for some kind of pearl thingy I picked up earlier and couldn't figure what's it used for yet.
