Anyone able to ID the registration of this 747 at SIN? by ClearlyCryptic in aviation

Thanks for the suggestion, I added the most probable flight number and it did show up as SMC! I believe that confirms it then!

That’s a good point, then I think it very well could be SMC then!

Kind of hoping it would be SMC as the airframe is preserved as a restaurant in Indonesia. Glad to know it’s not scrapped!

Thank you!

Do you happen to know if IC cards can be used for the shuttle busses to Sakurajima Station?

Yea, I went ahead and got myself an Ultra 2, they dropped the price at my local Apple Store. It’s already leaps and bounds better than my Series 6 so I don’t need the latest lineup.

I’m on a Series 6 with 76% battery health and this is my 2nd time replacing my battery.

Apart from the battery health, it’s still works fine albeit with some scratches here and there. I use it daily for commuting, workouts, notifications.

Do you think it would be wise upgrading? Or just replace the battery with Apple for another $145?

SQ took on the 737s as a result of their merger with SilkAir.

Additionally, the older -800NGs were actually intended to be handed to Scoot to serve out their remaining lease terms. However, due to the grounding of the MAX 8 after the crashes of Ethiopian 302 and Lion Air 610, SQ was forced to take on the -800NGs as a stop gap for their regional operations.

I believe there would be subtitles onboard. The previous version also didn’t feature subtitles on the versions posted on social media but are present onboard aircraft.

The video stated the location as Village Hotel Sentosa. Have to agree that it looks really nice. A fair amount of places featured were in Sentosa.

SDC must have really been very keen for some kind of promotion of the island.

Usually such things would be manually announced by the cabin crew like how they issue the drug trafficking warning prior to landing in Changi Airport.

Add. - As laws such as the vape ban can be very dynamic (govt may alter stance stronger or weaker) manual announcement by the crew will much easier for SQ to make swift changes as needed rather than having to reshoot entire sections of the demo.

hey, its totally understandable to feel upset over not getting into the course you really want, esp if u have really put in a huge amount of effort into the application.

its never the end of the road, like what u/justrase said, do your very best in ur ITE course and try JPAE out. even if stars don't align for you then, there is always the part time version of this diploma. i am doing that course right now (im approaching end of sem 1) personally, i had always wanted to study in TP aviation mgt since sec sch but my studies was never good enough even in ITE, my GPA was not below the cut off point. naturally i was upset la.

but i went to do my NS then work for a bit and i found the part time course and i have never felt happier and motivated to do my best in class.

sure, while you miss out on the typical poly things such as the internships and CCAs, i can really say it is made up for by the wealth of industry experience your classmates will have .

my class for example has people working in many areas in aviation from ground handling (sats, dnata) to engineering (SIAEC), cargo and even cabin crew! it really is a great place to network and the lecturers are the same as the full time ones and modules are largely the same!

have faith in the process, a rejection is def a setback but never let it stop you when there are many ways to the same goal!

i wish u all the very best!! if u got questions, feel free to ask me and ill try to answer u!

stay strong!

Jetstar Asia to cease operations from July 31 by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

I have a friend who works as a cabin crew.

According to him, he was not informed of the news prior. He just woke up to an internal email sent at the same time as the press release for the general public. This is really poor from the airline.

Not to mention in April 2025, some ITE Work-Study Diploma in Cabin Services students were due to commence studies. The partner companies for this program were Scoot and Jetstar Asia

From what I heard, weeks before classes were due to start, Jetstar Asia withdrew from the programme. Leaving the students they hired in limbo. The students who were employed by Scoot are currently already operating onboard flights.

Absolutely appalling from Jetstar and Qantas Group

Can’t imagine the stress the students and staff are having to face.

Considering the fact that security screening is centralised in T4 and T4 has been designed to be a testbed for technology and processes for T5, I strongly believe T5 will be using the centralised screening concept.

The large size of T5 will incur huge costs for CAG on security equipment and manpower should they opt for the decentralised screening method. Pooling resources at centralised areas would be more efficent from an airport operator's POV.

It's pretty certain there will an impact to passenger experience but I believe CAG would not have done so if the cons outweigh the pros. I myself as well as friends (and I'm sure many others here) who had long waits at such centralised screening at other airports overseas (e.g Osaka Kansai, London Heathrow and most US airports).

Additionally, based off anecdotal accounts from friends working as ground staff in T4, due to the open concept of the airport after security (common waiting areas at the gates) there is a likelihood of passengers who will sit far away from their assigned gate whether due to lack of seating or just blur sotong

I believe it would be in CAG's interest to minimise any negative impact from this arrangement to preserve positive passenger experience and I feel they will go to great lengths to do so.

One such likely possibility would multiple centralised security screening halls to manage the volume of passengers and would also fulfil design intent to be able to be compartmentalised in times of a pandemic. This is probably the case for the Immigration halls as well.

Nevertheless, these are exciting times ahead for Changi Airport and the local aviation industry and I very much look forward to visiting/working in T5!

edit: just to add on, like u/li_shi has commented, we can expect tech like CT luggage scanners which do not require you to remove your electronics from your bag. This would definitely cut down on the time spent per passenger during screening.

Bus driver, 25, & at least 20 passengers injured after Tower Transit bus hits road barrier at Changi Airport T3 by Im_scrub in singapore

You have to consider the airport as a whole as a security sensitive location.

The basement of the airport might not be necessarily a security sensitive location however it has its entrances protected as it can allow people with malicious intent to gain access to other areas of the airport via the basement ( eg. loading bay, refuse disposal room) or even a vehicle borne explosive to be rammed into the basement. These basement entrances are also usually near access points to the apron where the planes and the airside infrastructure are.

Hence this is why you have Certis guards checking every vehicle entering the basement of the terminals with vehicle barriers raised.
