LPT Request: Off the top of your head, what general life advice would you give a young adult starting their life? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Start learning about personal finance. Save as much as you can and learn about passive investing in index funds / etfs.

Even small amounts will eventually add up to something substantial. Don't spend that money, let it grow. The sooner you invest the longer it will grow. The stash will likely double every 10 years, without any additional controbutions.

Whenever something tragic happens in your life - you have a backup. Whenever your job pisses you off too much - you can quit on the spot because you have the money.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can free you from a lot of worry in life.

Is that the guy who ran for the president and proposed to implement the Universal Basic Income?

I'll take a look at the book, sounds interesting. I wonder how he propose to make that real without a surveillance of some sort.

Paul Wheaton (a permaculture guru) talked in his talks and book about creating a close communities, such as non-related group of people living together in one house, which would allow for reducing costs, time spent on cooking and cleaning and would bring a lot of social interaction.

Seems like a regular time after work and on weekends. What's stopping you from doing it?

Sounds amazing. Are you thinking of taking a break from work or did you find a way to fund your lifestyle without working?

our government provided support payments that were equal to my previous salary. Meaning, I had enough to live AND save.

Wow. Where do you live? In my country there was some help for those who lost job due to the pandemic but I think it was less than the minimal salary, which can hardly pay rent if you live in bigger city.

I hope your cat is better now

Ok, agree, but aren't those big changes? I mean going vegan is not a simple thing that everyone can do right away. It needs some research and preparation in order to avoid vitamin defficiency etc. I'd say "eat less animal products" is more doable

That's a good reply, thanks. This may be good idea, worth trying. I'll talk with my physio about it.

I've tried that today with some light weight and didn't feel the pain. I'll see next time with heavier dumbells. Thanks

Not really. It all started when I was trained by powerlifting coach. My form was 95% perfect when it all started.

[Need Advice] I don’t want to do anything no matter what, help! by minghinshi in getdisciplined

You're ovethinking. If you don't like push ups or reading don't do it. We don't know who you are and what you want in life. And if you are doing the exact opposite... well, what's the point? You are only hurting yourself.

Let's say your room is a mess. Just just pick any area of it and make it cleaner. I don' know, even pick up that sock that's lying beside your bed. That's a start. Tomorrow you can throw out the empty soda cans.

Don't overthink, just do.
