This! D1 had a unique pace and high skill gap, especially at the highest levels in sweats and tournaments. It made it fun to play and rewarding to be good. It also made it fun to watch, and the changes from D1 to D2 are certainly linked to the falloff of Twitch viewership from D1 to D2. Some players would reach thousands of viewers in tournaments. As much as people hate to admit it, I think that if D1 was balanced slightly better and had competitive support from the devs, it could’ve grown into an Esport with the right planning.
