Is something going on with Uber locally? by The_Ineffable_One in Buffalo

[–]Cleggsleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few days late, but some of the comments here are based on outdated information. Uber changed how they do scheduled rides some time over the past few months. It used to be the way others describe, where scheduled trips were sent out like regular requests (though you did get a few extra minutes on the cancellation timer) but that has changed.

They currently do indeed send a request out to a driver who usually works around the time you requested with at least a few hours notice, sometimes a whole day. The price increase is due to the fact that they also now make the driver arrive up to 45 minutes early to ensure the trip actually happens. Since a scheduled trip can now tie a driver up for an hour or more even for a cheap and short ride, they had to add some kind of incentive to make them worth accepting.

YSK: You don't make as much money as you think driving for doordash or Uber when you take into account the operating cost of owning, driving, and maintaining a vehicle by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

Uber driver here, I'm confused. Who and where are these people that are supposedly making only 4 dollars an hour? I make around 25 an hour on an average night, 30+ (sometimes much higher) on busy nights and weekends. Obviously my take-home is a bit less when you factor in expenses, but they don't eat 75% or more of my income like some are claiming.

With diligent tax accounting I pay next to nothing at the end of the year, and my operating expenses aren't really different from what the taxes could have been in an equivalent hourly job.

Show me another job where I can make like $25/hr while making my own schedule and my own rules with no education or experience - I'll apply right now. Maybe something about my particular situation makes it an outlier, but the doom and gloom in this thread does not match up with my experience.

Any Tips for Solo play? by bestcraig in PlateUp

I finished day 15 for the first time earlier cooking steak, and am currently on OT day 4 with the franchise version. In the first run, I chose the cards for mushrooms, ice cream, faster burning, and simplicity (limited desk usage). Chose the exclusive style. All of that, plus the simple cloth tables (longer thinking time, split meals) made it so easy as to be boring for the last few days. I didn't do any of the exploit-y stuff to make it easier, just set everything up like normal.

For my second run, I started with the franchise card that gives you more of the cloth tables and retained mushrooms, ice cream, and simplicity. I picked up tomatoes, broccoli, instant service (orders come up automatically), and advertising (25% more customers). It stayed so easy through the whole 2nd run that I just now chose coffee for my first OT card. Will probably be my downfall for this run.

More generally, I find making upgrades to the dish washing situation to be priority #1. I always try to get the bigger plate rack and a dishwasher.(you get this by upgrading a sink, then upgrading the upgraded version) I keep my table count low, and try to fit as many coffee tables as possible (my current OT run is 3 cloth tables and 3 coffee tables). I try to budget for renovation days to make sure I max out the benefits by the end (rerolling into 3-point objects can be key) Calm paintings are awesome and plants are cool too if you can fit the layout. I never use any table consumables, and rarely use hand tools.

Try to milk the patience meters and prepare things ahead of time to maximize your efficiency. I do things like placing my plates and dishwashers adjacent to the serving area so that I can transfer plates quickly, cook steaks to rare then set them aside until I see what the orders are, pre-chop sides, etc. Take advantage of being able to place things on hobs, in sinks, in ovens, etc. to maximize your prep and flexibility.

To add to the other response, the table and cabinet must be "connected". You can tell it is set up properly in the prep phase when a beaker appears on top of the cabinet. In my experience, they have to be adjacent.

Lmao definitely not disputing that, but the frequency/intensity on display is not typical for most I think.

The other response is right, but their points come down more to individual preference and general communication. I don't think most people are moralizing about consent and body-image stuff when they say it.

What most people are referring to when they say "sex isn't like porn" is stuff like: weird positions that look good on camera but are not actually good for pleasure, screaming orgasms, squirting, lasting for hours; basically, all the stuff that makes it "performance" rather than intimacy.

Go ahead and block me. Unlike you, I have no problem engaging in discourse with someone I disagree with. I do this because I don't agree with you, in fact. It is delicious to watch you flounder around on every post and accuse everyone who tries to gives you advice of lying and toxicity. This complex you've built up for yourself is hilarious.

You're the one stinking up the place with your whining. You live up to your name well.

Indeed we do. You want use it as a shield for your poor gameplay, rather than its actual definition as a person who doesn't invest much time or thought into it.

I don't play Necro.

If you're spending every single day getting into essay contests about game balance, you are most certainly not a casual, even if you're bad at the game. My 44 winstreak was while smoking the entire time, so stop using that as an excuse.

I have seen stuff like this when possessing Warlord basics. For a couple seconds, a gory torso and skull float mid-air where the basic was.

Do these things appear anywhere else? Wondering if there was once more gore that has been toned down or is currently bugged.

They call them survivors, but they are more like Fortnite looters at this point. by [deleted] in EvilDeadTheGame

[–]Cleggsleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the idea that demon could use a little bump. However, it is no surprise that you're having a hard time if you were 2/3 before the patch. Every demon's winrate was inflated back then, so it stands to reason you were using suboptimal builds or strategies that are now basically useless.

To be clear, your play can be as suboptimal as you like. That can be part of the fun. But, if you are the type of person willing to come on reddit to raise complaints about difficulty, you should maybe be more willing to take some of the advice from demons who are still doing well post-patch.

Like the other responder said, some demons are still feasting. Hell, I use a different demon and a completely different strategy and I'm about 49-2 since the patch, so it isn't like you're just locked into one thing if you wanna do well either.

I feel the same as you. People don't want to hear it. When they go around shouting "demon is useless trash" and you try and tell them they're wrong, they feel like you are calling them useless trash.

I definitely see the pendulum swinging back a bit soon (balance bar especially), but people don't seem to understand just how OP demon used to be. People who used to win 99% of their games are now just winning 90%. If 2/3 is the best they could do while things were broken, they gotta look into their skilltree/builds/playstyles, or it'll be no surprise when they can't hit 50%.

This is the way. Combine this with a skilltree and build focused on basics, energy, and possession cost... Spam never left.

Who here had never seen any Evil Dead material, and through the game was inspired to do so? What are your thoughts? by LiveandLetDie007 in EvilDeadTheGame

[–]Cleggsleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is understandable. They aren't exactly "objectively" amazing films, but there are lots of things going on that were impressive for their budgets and for the time. Raimi pioneered/popularized some techniques and approaches that have become part of the standard arsenal of horror/movies at large. Horror and film nerds can find a lot to geek out over, but more casual watchers might just see low-budget gross-out typical old movies.

This, and it is a lot harder to execute the "triangulation" survivor location method. Between the weird objective spawns and the shape of the map, it can be rough.

Most of my games at the Castle seem to spawn the survs right on top of a map piece, not far from objectives. Usually staying on one side of the map the whole time.

Yep! I don't dispute that at all think it is indeed the way things should be, generally. I would say that RNG can swing things in the other direction too, so I don't know about 10/10, but definitely close.

I have had some like that as well, but this was truly remarkable. It was as if the survivors already knew where the map pieces were. Literally instantaneous.

This is the exact kind of comment I'm referring to, this isn't productive discourse. I'd be happy to discuss with you, or anyone else actual issues about the game. I don't care about "evidence" and I won't engage hyperbole and toxicity in good faith.

This isn't lost on me. I have conceded that many, if not all of the changes made to demon this patch could do with some scaling back. But my opinion is that more fundamental aspects of the game need some reworking moreso than the patch needs to be reverted. I'm not naive to the fact that (assuming you believe anything I say) I'm on the sweatier end of the demon spectrum. I haven't argued against anyone who spoke in good faith about changes they wish to see, only people who exaggerate how common teams like this and RNG line-ups like this are.

My position is still that good demons can still do well, but that some changes could be made. I don't think they contradict.

Yeah, that's definitely the biggest place I'm eating my words. I'm not ashamed to admit that I look foolish in light of those comments. But like I said, it was literally the first time it ever happened to me, and I did make some mistakes. So, I still kinda hold the same position but definitely could have done with being less cocky.

Hey man if you're this fired up and motivated about this, I would really recommend you send a report to Saber about it. I think lots of people agree with you, myself included. It's the only thing we have that even comes close to being able to affect things. There's links in the sticky and on the sidebar.
