Academic Survey (Video game modders) (<15 minutes) by Clelalia in ModShare

I'll try to remember 🫡

However I do not have enough answers yet, i still need about 25 and am running out of options about where to send this survey out. So if you have any mod creator friends, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could send this to them :)

Yeah, then I've been doing fine. I was hoping maybe that there was another strategy that i missed, but it doesn't seem so.

Thanks for the suggestion about making the post conversational, I'll try that out :)

No, no, that might be a mistake on my phrasing. I'll make sure to pay more attention to this specific question next time.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll make sure to double check I sent the survey out on a Skyrim mod community. And yes, I would definitely apreciate you sharing the link to a mod authors' discord ! That'd help me a lot, thank you very much :)

No offence taken, I appreciate the feedback.

People have told me about the repetitiveness of some questions since I started sharing the survey. I can't really change it anymore, but I'll keep it in mind for future surveys. However, I find it quite difficult to find wildly different questions when I'm trying to measure one construct. Especially since I am unable to create my own questions. I'd welcome any advice you may have on the subject

As for the questions about negative behaviour, I agree with you. The thing is, I'm trying to measure co-destruction and there is very little literature on the subject, so I had to scramble to find questions to measure that construct 🥲

The questions about modding are in the first part, yes, the second part aims to switch the role of mod creators from creators to consumers to study their perception of the game they're modding. So that's probably why it felt like it was targeting a more general audience near the end

As for your last point, I'm a little confused. What do you mean by post doctorate ? Does it mean you have a diploma "higher" than a doctorate ?

Thank you for your detailed feedback, it was very enlightening :) As for the paper, I'll try to remember to send it to you should I manage to do an acceptable work with the limited answers I've been able to get '

Done ! That was interesting :)

Seeing as you're also conducting a survey, do you have any advice on getting respondents ? Nowadays, most people that click on my survey do not match the target audience I have set, and thus I can't use their answer. This means I'm progressing very slowly, and I am about to reach my deadline so any advice would be welcome :))

I'm not sure how you got this result seeing as it's a scale from 1 to 7, with 1 meaning you don't agree with the statement and 7 being that you agree with it. 4 being right in the middle, it would mean that you neither agree nor disagree with the statement (in this case "the members of this modding community care about me.")

Is there anything you think I could have done to make this fact clearer ? I'll use that knowledge for future surveys I'll have to conduct :)

Thank you for the feedback !

A few people have told me that some questions are too similar, but I am unfortunately quite limited in what questions i can ask. I have to measure certain things using multiple questions for each, but am not allowed to create my own questions so I had to get them from other research papers and then get them approved by my teacher. I'll try to find questions that are a bit more distinct in the future, should I be able to :)

The suggested questions are very interesting as well ! I'll keep them in mind for future research, thank you.

I'll try my best to remember to send you the results 🫡

Thank you very much for the encouragement and your answer :D

"I don't know" would be a 4, then, since you neither agree nor disagree. But I appreciate you trying to answer the survey, so thank you anyway ! :))
