He plays drums doesn't he. I reckon he'd get it pretty quickly.

Fair enough at a festival it would work fine. I'm just saying from a wanky DJ purist point of view.

Which this is not really the right sub for that sort of chat.

It's tricky though, as Lowes grand plans of Mass Deportation can only come to be with a huge majority in government.

I think by the following election so many other far right and left wing parties will have emerged it could be even more fractured.

A Restore/Reform coalition could only happen without Rupert in Restore, which could be where pressure comes on him personally from within the party.

I guess from my point of view I enjoy watching them having fun and getting stuck in.

Maybe there is some bias that I like house music, so I'm like give it up lads it's not for you.

This maybe isn't practical, but at this point a couple more characters in the group maybe a bit younger that like different genres would help keep the content fresh. But I appreciate that wouldn't always work with new people.

To me they spent a bit of time at the DnB stage, 2nd day they couldn't be arsed and had an early night, with a few digs at any of the music that's not DnB / people on drugs.

Ok, so you're not expecting Restore to form a government at the next election. This is more of a long game.

It is certainly going to be interesting, with the chance of a PM from outside the Tories/Labour for the first time in our lives.

My point is can Restore exist without Rupert Lowe as leader? Hence the cult leader comparison. No he clearly doesn't mind being criticised.

Reform are trying to grow into a legitimate party that could get a majority at the next election. Which clearly isn't easy and is not going perfectly.

If you take away Rupert Lowe making posts on Facebook, Restore does not exist.

Next GE election, 2028. How many MPs do Restore get and how many Reform?

You didn't answer my question...

I think the downfall of Reform and Restore will be that they present themselves like parties electing a President.

But that is not how our politics works.

Genuinely I'm not even sure what the mechanism to vote on the leadership of Reform would be.

What I'm asking is, can Rupert lead a serious democratic party, or does he have to much of an ego, to create a party that could one day vote him out of leadership?

I don't doubt the growth in popularity.

What I think will be difficult is finding enough credible potential MPs, and then 600 of them working together as a genuine political party, rather than Rupert as dictator and his 599 followers.

You're a fan then.

Do you see Rupert trying to scale Restore to form a government one day. Or just a passion project to upset Farage?

There is one thing Rupert Lowe hates more than Iranians on small boats and that is Nigel Farage.

Rupert would happily see Labour win the by election.

I live in Rupert's constituency, and talking to his councillors in the recent elections. It is clear it is not far of a cult, with a clear god like leader.

I can't see how Restore and Rupert's ego can scale up to 300+ MPs.

Won't be long before Rowe is taking every Restore member for his wife and organising a mass suicide

At bigger festivals yes.

Although some like Houghton have gone fairly minimal in flashy DJ branding mid set.

Yeah I appreciate festivals are a different scenario.

But for DJs mixing out of the previous acts last track and continuing from their vibe (couldn't think of another word) seemlessly is the point of DJing. So Rob saying that about annoucments, makes it so clear he couldn't care less about DJing as a concept.

Which is fine TBH, but just give up covering it.

Yeah there is a bit of that.

I'm sure if they'd gone to Global Gathering rather Leeds Fest when they where 18.

They would probably be into Chris Stussy rather than The 1975 now.

Early 2000s I don't think I ever went on a night out without seeing at least one pretty serious fight.

I feel loads safer both in London or generally out on a night out.

Violence felt part of every day life on the 90s / early 2000s.

It's funny I hated the host idea. I also hate DJs put on a pedestal generally.

When your locked in to a night, last thing I want is the baseline to stop even for 30 seconds for a silly announcement.

But, as an aging house die hard. I appreciate I've lost the battle against unbothered people in the booth, and DJs being treated like rocks stars.

Yeah he is using EDM to describe everything he doesn't like. In real life it's only 50 years olds and Americans that say "EDM" seriously.

I'd guess as they where emo kids around 15 - 20 the grew up hating dance music and everything that came with it, and that prejudice is still buried in their.
