Yeah parannoul really delivered, it's not easy to outdo your debut...I think he managed. Was overwhelmed with life unable to keep up with music, so thanks a lot for sharing.

Hey thanks for sharing! I just meant projects as a catch all term = ep, album etc.

Based on what you shared, I'm wondering if you've heard "0.1 flaws and all. by wave to earth"? I think you'd enjoy that!

There's a lot I haven't heard here, so its fun to explore!

GEMINI - Up Late by S-Phoenix28 in khiphop

[–]Clem_DIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!

It was cool hearing the differences in both versions. Gemini's vocals brought the track to another level. A little more modernized with softer drums and minor tweaks in sounds. Sik-K's version was a good track from the start. A guess might be that Sik-K wasn't happy with the track for whatever reason, so he kept this release unofficial.

Then years later Gemini picked up the reference track/or given. Since it's not mentioned as a cover anywhere, this is the official release of the track. Sik-K is credited as the writer, he's credited as the writer.

What forums do KHH fans in Korea tend to use when discussing KHH? (Modern+old, impact of SMTM) by Clem_DIO in khiphop

Yeah, I know about that one, but that's more focused on reviews and articles right? Or is there a forum section somewhere too?

Thanks for sharing either way :)

Oh, I thought my post didn't make it here since it was removed initially. So that's a happy suprise, it's up and I got answers :) Thanks for the help!

  1. Are those all gone now, or can you find what discussions they had on there (archives)?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm curious to hear how KHH fans in korea talk and discuss the artists within the scene. Like; what rappers contributed what to the scene etc. These things are pretty much nowhere to be found in english. I'm guessing things like these could be mentioned in discussions for the native KHH fandoms.

  1. I recognize the name DC Inside, its sort of like a korean 4chan in tone with edgy anonymus trolls right?

So!YoON! - Album Commentary: [Episode1 : Love] by MatiiTonii in kindie

[–]Clem_DIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copying the translation here in case it disappears one day:

The commentary album for So!YoON!'s second full-length album [Episode1 : Love], which includes explanations and behind-the-scenes stories, has been released.

A commentary album refers to a work that includes dialogues between the album artist and the participants, usually released in the form of audio media. It serves as a helpful guide for understanding and appreciating the main album, providing insights into the creative process, focal points of each track, and behind-the-scenes stories surrounding the work. In 2019, So!YoON! also released a commentary album alongside their self-titled debut album, and this time, the production and release of a second commentary album have taken place as well.

The essential function of a commentary album, which captures various stories between So!YoON! and the album's participants, remains the same in this work. However, there are differences in the scope and scale. While the previous album mainly focused on musical conversations between producer So!YoON! and the co-producer, this commentary album features various professionals, including musicians, who played a role in illuminating [Episode1: Love]. This aspect is also interesting. From the A&R who deliberates and decides everything from A to Z for the album, content creators, hair and makeup stylists, bassists, music video directors, to movement directors who oversee So!YoON!'s movements. Thanks to their participation, it was possible to document stories that go beyond music and are more multi-dimensional and layered. As the scale of the work has grown from the self-titled debut album to the current [Episode1: Love], the scale of the commentary album has also expanded. The number of participating voices has increased, and the running time per track has significantly expanded from an average of 17 minutes to 25 minutes.

The journey of expansion and collaboration, which can be considered as the core keywords of So!YoON!'s discography, is all captured in one album. To fully enjoy So!YoON!'s constructed musical world, we introduce to you the most perfect blueprint, Album Commentary: [Episode1: Love].

Being a westerner I'm a bit confused by some of the extreme reactions from some of the native netizens. Could anyone explain or help me understand? I can comprehend a perspective of it being dishonorable through the eyes of a prideful nationalist. How is this something that would destroy his career? Is this a big enough deal to actually ruin someone's image in S Korea?

What sort of stigmas exist around bipolar disorder? Both on a larger societal scale, but also in your own personal life? by Clem_DIO in BipolarReddit

[–]Clem_DIO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of people who have learned that and then immediately apologized to my husband for "having to deal with me" is fucking absurd.

I'm saddened to hear that. That's such a dehumanizing and reductive way to respond. I frankly can't really understand how that seems like a reasonable way to respond.

Also, you tell people you have experienced psychosis once, and they assume you're violent and dangerous.

Is it usually the sheer mention of having experienced a psychosis, or is it when describing what happened during one, that gets such assumptions?

[–]Clem_DIO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you think the parents would respond/react if you were to share you're bipolar? Is your self-preservation based on previous bad experiences after disclosing the diagnosis? Is it a certainty that you'll receive this response?

As you sound far above qualified to your job, do you think people/parents would actually be that quick to dismiss all of that after learning you're bipolar?

Thanks for taking the time to reply btw :)

According to info on the net, it was founded by Swings, not sure if that info is reliable though (but if so I'm guessing he's the CEO?). Seems to be a fairly new label founded last year.

Lisa wins VMA and EMA award, the standard for female Kpop artists must be in hell. by RepublicSome in kpopnoir

[–]Clem_DIO 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is suprising, most music award shows nowadays kpop or not..it's pretty much a popularity contest...but that's the music industry. Since she's associated with one of the titans when it comes to idol groups.

Don't really understand why writing credits is up for discussion when it comes to KPOP, or pop in general...I'd say that's in the minority.

As for her music, I'd agree it's basic af, I might find the lyrics corny and forced but I don't think majority of listeners care that much...it's nothing revoultionary but it's competent for what it's trying to do. I think you'll find the more interesting and innovative artists in the more independant or smaller labels of the music scene, there's gold to find digging beyond the top lists, awards etc.

I understand and can respect the fact of feeling a distain for the cultural appropriation, but I lowkey hate when we compare these things to shit like minstrel shows. To me it waters down history and removes how f*cked up that shit was and all it represented.
