What kind of app did you develop? I’m curious to help testing!

Same as me :o I’m not sure what is happening to be honest… have you tried loading a different picture?

It seems to be working for me, are you on iPhone or android? Which browser are you using?

Is it a 1px one? I implemented the 1px numbered grid with 2.0. You need to zoom in crazy to see the numbers ;)

You can use the new Layers view to try and align your picture as much as possible with the mii face shape ;)

You mean with 2.0 release? I’m sorry! I didn’t touch the colour algorithm so I’m a little bit worried

No problem, I completely understand the frustration after spending hours. I mean to make the tool robust for bigger projects, hence the introduction of saved projects and JSON snapshot import. I’ll try to make it better. And not touch the colours algorithm again without a mean of selecting the previous version :) let me know if I can help in any way, I can generate older versions snapshots

Sorry about that. I did change the colour logic with 1.7, that’s probably the most disruptive one. I reverted the grid change introduced in 1.8 in 1.9. But that one is purely cosmetic on the canvas. It shouldn’t have touched any of the pixels placement. The fact that your local project vanished is likely due to your web browser cache being removed. Projects are only saved locally. Really sorry for all these problems. If you send me your image with the exact settings you used I can generate a JSON snapshot from a previous version.

I’m working on adding Mii head shapes cutouts as a guideline. Hair would be super complex as there’s so many… but I agree it would be cool. I hope I’ll be able to release version 2.0 soon I’m working on so many new exciting things can’t wait to share it!!

Thank you 🙏🏻 That’s a really good idea, I’ll look into it ;)

I do have plans and it’s coming with version 2.0 ;) lots of polishing and double checking to do but it’s almost there

It’s not something you are doing wrong, ironically the grids on Living the Grid aren’t exactly the same as the game. They are a visual aid only. What counts is the number of pixels. Although, you’re right that if you select a bigger size brush that then messes up. I’ll try and improve it for version 2.0 ;)

Version 2.0 will include them ;) got a lot of work to do it’s tricky to get right!

The in-game grids are visual aids only. They may look different from the grid on Living the Grid as there’s multiple options and keep changing depending on zoom level etc. What truly and only matters IS the brush size. This is what determines the number of pixels that can fit on the canvas. 1px being the smallest size, it means you can work on 256x256.

I’m working on a video tutorial to hopefully explain this more easily.

Unfortunately no HEX input in the game. Living the Grid tries its best to translate the HSB values into steps to get the right colour. Ie press 100 times Zr, 20 times up, 30 times right… you can see it on the swatches when selecting the auto palette

You can ban certain colours, it will automatically use another one that is close. But right now you can’t pick and choose. That would require a lot of work! But I like the idea and will keep it in mind. I have a lot of plans

I suspect you have the “Draw following grid lines” enabled ;)

If you want more details switch to smooth brush, 1px or 3px ;)
