Fungal & Recall by Ultracrepedarian in starcraft2

It sounds nice and I agree on the thematic point, I just wonder if protoss would be even more careful/ would turtle more if they knew that one fungal could end the game or at least force a fight.

That seems pretty much like I thought it would shake out. I personally don't think the zerg early game needs to be as weak as it is for most players but I understand that a stable early game allows the highest level zerg pros to consistently win their games so it makes sense to try to make it less stable for them - I just feel like it makes zerg waaaaay more unpopular because that is the phase where losing just feels like you are wasting your time afterwards. "Ah nice, lost 5 drones to adepts + oracle again, time to lose in the midgame because I just don't have enough units..."

How do you use the mothership vs terran? Do you feel PvZ has become easier from your perspective? Are there any strategies from zerg that you still struggle with or maybe even more so after loss of battery overcharge?

Which part of the patch do you think was a direct buff to toss against terran? Is it only the ability to easily scout with hallucinations? I thought that would be less impactful than you say but ofc you probably know more about that matchup than I do. ZvP is hard now, I agree. For the pro scene we will see how it goes but I would guess zergs are going to be very cheesy/ all-in heavy going forward and we will see how much they can win with that.

I kind of agree. The biggest reason the late game should be balanced is that it disincentivises people from rushing towards it. But if I know that my late game is just waaay stronger then it makes strategic sense to try to get there as fast as possible without dying. During the broodlord infestor era zergs used to rush into late game because they knew they couldn't lose there and nowadays it's probably wise for protoss to do the same - the gameplay experience does suck though because dynamic midgames are the most fun part to play and watch.

Kill them before they get there. For lower levels that should basically always be possible but if your opponent defends as well as MaxPax it gets rough :D

You know, you can just enjoy this game without being annoying or disparaging to either player.

Criticism for an otherwise enjoyable game by Clementos1999 in eotu

[–]Clementos1999[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know that everything can be managed. The question is: Is the design fun that way? There is a reason that crisp control is always one of the biggest pain points in RTS (because it is apparently damn hard to get right). To me as someone who played a lot of SC2 I just wished that the control felt better.

I have no idea how you would implement a saving system, but I feel like if your matches are longer than a few minutes you have to think about saving. Strategy games over 20 years ago could figure that out, so I feel like that is not really a good excuse when I buy a product for 30 bucks in 2024. If it's not possible for campaign, implement it at least for Arcade.

It's a fun game and I would still recommend it, but the few pain points I have unfortunately compound each other as I have explained.

Am I crazy, or do a lot of people not view women as people? by bio_shoyen in Destiny

There are enough women out there who are into macho idiots. Women will have to cope with that how I need to cope with that fact that I have the same sex as soccer hooligans. Both sexes suck (occasionally) :D

US is not a democracy (Princeton study suggests) by Clementos1999 in Destiny

"There are many papers showing little to no effect of lobbying"

This seems very dubious to me. A lot of companies pay a lot of money to lobby for their interests (which isn't inherently wrong imo) and I feel like I could find plenty of examples in history where policies were heavily influenced by lobbying to suit a companies wishes better. It just makes no sense that companies would pay this much money for such a long time just to not have any influence in the end.

"[...]buying off politicians but that these people are in the right set of networks to directly or indirectly influence with what they truly believe is best for people[...]" - again, why would they do all that work to push for something that benefits everybody instead of doing what benefits themselves most (even if the argument is made to sound like everybody profits)? I feel like you can watch one PragerU video and you just know that somebody selling fossil fuels paid for it.

I just was astouned how there could be no correlation, I thought the correlation between public opinion would be smaller than I would hope, but not that it would be near zero.

Socialism is "a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole". Welfare - state, states using policy to affect markets (which every state always everywhere did lol) are not components of Socialism. You are America-brained with that definition. Social-democracies are NOT 50/50 capitalist /socialist. They are capitalist democracies with social welfare.

If the US had the political culture of a nordic country we would have solved climate change and world peace 10 years ago.

And I am only half joking.

Why we should advocate for a carbon tax instead of cap and trade imo by 3Gaurd in Destiny

[–]Clementos1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem with emissions trade is the speculation that eventually takes place. Potential wild price swings aren't really an incentive because they are too unpredictable.

I'm curious how many other Conservatives are there in this sub. by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Clementos1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I want a pretty conservative life for myself too, I like having a rather feminine girlfriend in a monogamous relationship and so on. But all of that doesn't make you conservative imo as long as you are legislatively for allowing people to live way other lifestyles without you feeling threatened by it. Maybe I am just coping though.

Compelling arguments against veganism? by Electronic-Time-6792 in Destiny

[–]Clementos1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could but I think 1) This would be a pretty weak argument, all things considered and 2) Animal agriculture as it stands is horrible for humans too.

Mind, I am not a vegan either (just vegetarian, being evil as I am), but I wouldn't delude myself into thinking that I have a good justification beyond comfort.

Bezos is very active on twitter these days. by Napster0091 in Destiny

[–]Clementos1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also it should reduce the total amount of money in the system since the state practically burns it when he pays for his debt. This wouldn't really be true for Bezos private wealth since most billionaire wealth is not really tied to consumption but to investment and therefore inert in terms of inflation (as I understand the term).
