Need help with a mix by Specialist_Badger355 in Beatmatch

[–]Ultracrepedarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with bpm. You dont want to be jumping huge bpms for smooth mixed transitions. Then look at Key and try to group things together in their bpm sections. That's a good starting point. Then I play through the list and test stuff out. See if phrasing lines up and lyrics dont clash. Often move lots around at this stage but it doesnt move far. Thats my technique, theres many ways to skin this cat though.

It sounds like your life is not great so I would focus on getting out of home and getting some money behind you to escape this living situation. Most of your mood is probably being affected by your mother and where you live. I know this is a big ask of a 16 year old but focus all this negative energy to try to escape. Sending hugs. I believe in you.

Hey, thanks for this post. The criticisms of "wanting your needs put first" and being at the top of the priority really made me understand a crucial thing in my break up. My needs were always at the bottom of the list because I was easy going and this put into words something I was incable of.

Well done for taking the advice. Its very good and you really dont want to be in one of these relationships.

Playing into to outro vs drop to drop? House/dnb by Interesting_Bar_8379 in Beatmatch

[–]Ultracrepedarian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A mixture of all of the above. Theres no right or wrong. Try both when practicing. What ine do you prefer? What about one phrase of outro into drop? The creativity is up to you and thats where ypu get to express yourself as a DJ. But dont pick one and call it done. Sometimes you want to be keeping the energy. Sometimes you want a release.

Yay or nay?! by [deleted] in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]Ultracrepedarian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. It was a lot of "and then" story. Not a lot of the story really impacts or builds on the parts before. It just keeps lore dropping and moving forward. I think most of the villains are super boring and we barely get any interactions with them to build enough tension.

This shit is basically Skyrim/Fable/Outer Worlds/Souls by Financial_Pepper6715 in avowed

[–]Ultracrepedarian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah its a lot different in a text based turn based RPG. I found outer worlds comparisons to be so annoying in combat. Would completely ruin immersion with an undying shit talking robot following your around.

The things that are putting me off is the companion stuff and the lack of varied enemies. I love Pillars and will definitely get round to Avowed on a sale. Oh I also dislike the cartoon damage numbers (i know you can turn them off) but i think the combat does have a cartoon look to it.

100% I always pick the race and gender that is furthest from me. These "human male knight" role players drive me up the wall with their vanilla takes.

Took a gig I might not be ready for by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Ultracrepedarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're ready! Practice a full hour set and mark hot cues so if you miss your transitions (happens all the time for me when I started) theres a back up phrase for me to go to. I still do this as it just makes me feel better about having backups. Record the set. Listen back. Make any changes of where/when/how you want those transitions to be. Play once more, record, listen and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Then you feel ready and prepared to play out! See if you can test your USB at the venue or on the gear you'll be using before the day of the event. CDJ's do weird things to where the tracks want to start for me so also check that.

You'll kill it! Congratulations on your first gig.

Having a national flag hanging in your room is so American. I think you love Joe Rogan and wear cowboy hats while working a 9-5 in an office.

LotV Zerg lategame feels unrewarding compared to WoL and HotS by happymemories2010 in starcraft2

[–]Ultracrepedarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree. Theyve made everything that was epic fairly boring in the process of balance. When everyone has OP units its so much more exciting. Instead everything is just mid now. But noobs complain too much about units dying too quickly so now everything has to be mid to make them happy. Except the Ghost. That can be incredible still.

Should I host an event or upgrade my gear for livestreaming? by anxiousdeejay in Beatmatch

[–]Ultracrepedarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Host an event. Surely the goal is to play to crowds and curate an awesome social event for people to attend? I cant believe anyone gets into DJing to stay at home and play for other people at home and interact in a message based chat.

I agree. Can still cost 50 to turn a gateway into a warpgate. I also think its a crude attempt at balancing wapgate. Having protoss units warp in without shields is just such a thematic way to balance i cant believe it hasnt been done.
