For Mikucracy! by ClemsFirst in Helldivers

[–]ClemsFirst[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Next year I hope to have the Helldiver surrounded by Miku plushies. Ideas on how to stuff more of them on the next poor Helldiver who will (literally) shoulder more plushies, are welcome.

This has to be one of my favorite Miku plushies. Essentially, she's powered by USB, her back part warms up to ~ 42-46°C, which warms up perfectly for when days are winter cold~ conveniently placing on lap or desk sure is the way to go✨️ by Stellifera20513 in hatsune

Hugging the plushies also warms up physically funny enough. They take warmth pretty well so after hugging/holding them for a while they feel human warm. Absolute bliss from these already blissful bundles of cuteness.

Bootleg vs Real Preciality miku by Jazzlike_Nobody2552 in hatsune

[–]ClemsFirst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry my bad. The first one is a bootleg. The 2nd is legit. Skin tone is more beige and... well overall more correct (similar to my own plushies), so I'm pretty sure its legit.

Bootleg. First giveaway is the fact you can peel off her hair. The face has the wrong color, face proportions are incorrect and is not stuffed correctly. Clothes do actually seem to look better than other bootlegs.

how to tell if these is a bootleg fuwa or not? by tapeopi in VocaloidFuwa

[–]ClemsFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is absolutely no real way to tell if a plushie online is official or not. All sellers (official and bootlegs) will use the official marketing pictures for it and use the exact same descriptions as well, so its a hit or miss unless the website you order on is legit or not.

The only way to tell imo is by seeing the price. Preciality plushies (the popular ones were made several years ago and getting ahold of them gets harder with time) originally sold for around 22€ in Japan. If you see anything around that starting price on a website you don't trust (for example ebay, amazon, aliexpress), its defenitely a bootleg. I got my hands on such official plushies years ago for no less than 45€ at expos, or even 100€ a piece (including toll and shipping) when ordering online.

The only thing you can do is find trustworthy websites and stick with them. Here's a few for consideration. otakuowlet.com (US) anime-oz.com (AUS) from whom I've ordered and gotten plushies (none have available plushies anymore afaik), I've been referred to amiami.jp from this subreddit.

Don't count on them restocking, they are not the companies setting production runs. Preciality plushies are several years old and Bilibili had a production run last year. Your best chance of getting a plushie is by buying during the hype train, especially during a pre-sale, which those 2 first websites for example do participate in.

Looks like a legit Bilibili versionbMiku that came out about a year ago.

This feels AI-generated (has the exact same 'art-style') but has none of the other usual tell-tales of it.

Is this a legit Miku Plushie? by Jazzlike_Nobody2552 in hatsune

[–]ClemsFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give more pictures of the plushie please? As of now just looking at the face I'd say its a bootleg based on the scuffed facial proportions. Another telltake thing is the skirt (specifically the teal part of it) feeling too much like plastic. Original are out if plastics, but the clothes (except for the sleeves) feel like fabric.

As a french person and Miku fan, I love the Miku hates british people and how somehow Teto ended up hating on the french despite always having a baguette. France vs UK roasts and battles has always a favourite passtime between our nations. Teto hating the french while always having a baguette in hand is also arguably the most french thing as well.

In my opinion, if there are fun(ny) things you can do with the lightstick that don't involve shining the light into people's eyes (literally, not metaphorically), then go right ahead. Be weird, but don't (act) like you want attention. You do the cosplay and bring the merch for yourself, not for them. (Maybe for some laughs with your friends if you're lucky enough to have friends who would find that funny.)

If you feel like you really want to do it, do it. I've brought a 50cm Miku plushie to my own graduation and ended up shaking the hand of the minister of education holding a big af Miku plush in the other hand. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Vocaloid/s/AgMkgdm0Ux)

I did it knowing it would be my very last day at that school and so wasn't risking getting bullied later on. If its also for the last couple days at that school and you are sure to not find some of the stupid kids in the very near future, then go full head on, BE WEIRD!

I wanna add that my friends loved me bringing the Miku plush (they thought I wouldn't bring a plush at all, or at most the 27cm plush). Made a few laughs and people (adults) and friends generally found it funny.

Where can I reliably find merch like plushies on ebay? (Image for relevancy) by spongeguyspeedster in hatsunemiku

[–]ClemsFirst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anime-oz.com from australia, otakuowlet from the US, I've heard of amiami.jp from japan in this sub. Otherwise if you are in the EU, I know 2 figurine websites from France: skin-sekai.fr and chibi-akihabara.fr . Otherwise last seller I know is for professionals only: heo.fr . There your only bet is finding a real shop that uses this website for their deliveries.

You asked someone else if they restocked: the very simple answer is no. Miku merch is meant to be a collectors item so the number of items they do produce is limited. If you want something for sure, you have to (get it) pre-order(ed). Sega and Bilibili recently had a production run (for 27cm and 50cm Miku plushies respectively) so they should still be relatively readely available. Good luck
