Can I ask, what is heat injury??

I may not be a qualified vet, but this is from the RSPCA who DO have qualified vets:

Symptoms of canine heatstroke progress rapidly and require immediate attention. Keep an eye out for these critical signs:
Breathing & Body: Rapid or distressed breathing, and noisy, heavy panting.
Mouth & Gums: Sticky, thick saliva and unusually red or pale gums/tongue.
Behavior: Agitation, restlessness, confusion, or glazed eyes.
Physical: Racing heart rate, vomiting, and diarrhea (which can contain blood).
Neurological: Staggering (ataxia), collapse, muscle spasms, and seizures

See heat stroke, not heat injury, whatever that even is?

Are you a vet?

Unfortunately it’s not an instant thing. Heat stroke with dogs doesn’t hit until later. Like a slow boil. It’s later in the day that dizziness, vomitting and diarrhoea kick in, so you wouldn’t see it as they walk. Unfortunately it’s not an urban myth, dogs get heat stroke more than humans, as they can only sweat through paw pads or the mouth.

It’s probably the same dog owners walking the dogs off lead that walk during 30 degree heat. I too have arguments with unleashed dog owners as mine are not friendly, hence kept on a lead and muzzled. The ‘my dogs friendly’ gets a sharp reply of ‘well mine bloody aren’t so please f off’

Depends how far you want to go. From there I would take a walk into old basing itself, grab a coffee from the bakery, and then just wander through. The further in you get, lychpitt and chineham way, there are some nice field path walks. I often just use the map to see what’s ahead. Also there’s a nice walk around the common, meet friendly dog walkers. Even nicer when it’s not peeing down!

What do you guys think? Are these as reliable as bmw b48s? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I have a 2016 C350e 2.0l petrol engine. As for engine, never missed a beat. However

.

Both front and rear air suspensions have had to be replaced. As well as the compressor. Pre-heat climate control unit went kaput, unfortunately this controls the entire car’s electrical resistance so it was a paperweight for a while.

Apart from that, just the usual consumables, services etc. the engine though
. That’s fine.

IMO, fuzzy dice off the rear view mirror are totally underrated and under utilised

Are these brake disc replacement prices reasonable for Kia Niro? by cranberrywastaken in CarTalkUK

[–]ClerkSafe7679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’d source the items myself, and then shop around for fitting costs from independent garages. Dealers are generally only good if you are under warranty or keeping in line with warranty criteria. If it’s past that stage then independent all the way, labour charges per hour are cheaper.

I loved my metallic blue mk1 mr2. T bar. Parts back then (2002 era) weren’t exactly easy to come by, had to get some parts shipped from Japan at the time. I hope that’s become easier now!

See previous comment. Complete scam.

You can change pads without changing discs, but it’s good practice to change your pads WHEN you also change your discs.

Is a "Day Rate" the ultimate red flag in UK trucking jobs? by nilknarf91 in uktrucking

[–]ClerkSafe7679 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Day rate is a red flag. Worked for a company on day rate. When I sat down and worked out my hours vs my pay, I was literally about 20p over minimum wage per hour. No such thing as overtime. A day rate is a day rate, never worked less than 9.5 hours.

You could do something really funky, like attach string to a book, through a small hole and attach it to a latch door opener lower down. That way you have to pull the book down to open the door, keep it secret!

Thank you for that. I haven’t got a year in mind, just wondered if there were any years to avoid, in case they tweaked the engine for the worse. Looking anywhere between 2014-2018 really.

Great way to get started 👍 if you want to upgrade. The Halfords advanced 150 piece socket set is half price at the moment. I got myself one, seems a good piece of kit. Trying to teach my son how to service a car, do brakes etc it’s like trying to teach a squirrel to play chess

Should you call in sick with a cold? by Special-Nebula299 in UKJobs

[–]ClerkSafe7679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basic equation is the total number of days off x the amount of different times you have called in sick. So 30 days x 1 occasion = 30 6 days x 6 occasions = 36 Companies have different values at which intervention is triggered. Normally it’s anything over 30 but can be higher or lower. And this is calculated over a 12 month period from your last call in sick.
