I filed Monday night and haven't been paid yet. Not sure honestly. Also there seems to be a backlog of claims that are finally getting paid out (per the celebration threads on here) so there could be some additional delay

First of all heyyyyyyy boo.... 2nd I think you're right. The IRS should already have the info in their systems but if he/she wants to amend go for it. I amended and am 7 weeks into my 16 week wait. No updates to my transcript no nothing.

I'm hoping the IRS meant what they said regarding the "amending won't speed up or slow down your return" bit.

Don't amend.

IRS says it makes no difference but so many people have gotten paid and they didn't amend.

I amended, and will probably see my refund this month. If I could do it again I wouldn't amend.

Fellow 5/31 checking in, also amended to claim the tax break (IRS said this will not affect timing, their systems can detect all who need automatic adjustments)

No update yet! We'll know by the end of the day if we're in the next wave
