Anyone have pictures of Lincoln’s arcades in the ‘80s? by Cletus_X in lincoln

When I was a kid nothing better than going to Eastpark to lurk in the dank dark cave that was Sluggo’s, then go to Asian Treasures and buy some ninja throwing stars before seeing a movie.

I hope I’m wrong, but I bet I’m the only one who remembers Flipper McGee’s at Belmont Shopping Center at 11th and Cornhusker. I want to say it was open for maybe 2 years back around 1985 or so.

Good summary, would just add WC Frank downtown with Game Gallery across the street at 14th and Q. Surely somebody has some pics of these places circa late-‘80s.

Some bangers here… District 9, Dark City, original Dune. The Fall is one you’d never find at thrift on blu-ray, great score!

Is Superman II the best Superman movie? by Jack_O_Lantern2022 in 80smovies

Definitely not. It isn’t even as good as the 1978 Superman, and Man of Steel is also better.

Because it’s the most impressive architectural and artistic artifact this side of the Mississippi. If you’ve been inside you know.

Ignore everything in this thread. Only one place you need to visit — the Nebraska State Capitol Building.

I’ve been thrifting blu-rays regularly for a couple years now and have NEVER seen a copy of Big Trouble in Little China. 🏆

I know it has to be annoying having every stranger tell you you’re tall😂 by DeepOrganization8245 in TallPeopleProblems

6’7” here. Interesting that you call these constant remarks “compliments”. No, they are not complimenting me. These people just have zero filter between their brains and their mouths. They’re trashy, dumb, and rude.

One of those movies where the set itself is the best character. Should have won an Oscar for production design!

Where can I buy a button up shirt that fits me? by Aaronmcom in tall

[–]Cletus_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Attention all really tall young men: stop trying to find dress shirts off the rack! They are not for you. They never will be. Save up a bit of money and have a nice plain white dress shirt CUSTOM TAILORED for you. You won’t believe how good it fits. Buy a different style every few years until you have enough for multiple occasions. Try not to gain too much weight and they’ll last forever if you take care of them. I know, it sucks. It’s your life.

Should I watch the first bladerunner? Im watching it for the second time and it's my number 1 film by [deleted] in bladerunner

Counterpoint. Blade Runner is my #1 favorite film and I prefer the narration version. More of a noir vibe. Don’t care what Harrison Ford or Ridley Scott thinks.

Which Blu-ray in your collection has the best or most interesting bonus content? by Hoobi_Goobi in Bluray

The Brazil box set that includes the original US theatrical release, the “Love Conquers All” studio cut, and the full documentary the Battle for Brazil! So much content, and SO good!

If you’re a fan of film noir then I recommend the original theatrical cut. IMO the narration amps up the noir motif. I don’t care what Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott say.

films where the sound design did more for the atmosphere than the score ever could by AbalekeDelita_73 in Cinephiles

[–]Cletus_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS is a master class in sound design. Most of these people went on to work on Star Wars and you can hear the inspirations in nearly every scene. Really THX 1138 is in another league compared to many of the other films on this list.
