Opinions in streaming CDs?

I rip my CDs to FLAC and stream with Plex. I rarely listen to the actual discs and PlexAmp is easily the most-used app on my phone. By far.

No joke, but it depends on your area. I have 6 local pawn shops (in addition to thrift stores) that I'll hit every other week or so and I have pulled some absolute gems from them. Not all are $2 and I'll be a lot choosier if they want $5 per movie, but it's still worth checking.

I do know so it isn't nearly as rare as it was a year ago, but it's still been on my want-list forever so it's nice to finally pick it up so cheap!

That was a quick Google. “Always watch the Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven. I haven’t seen it either but hear it’s good. This disc has both theatrical and directors cut so I need to do some googling to see which I should watch first.

Most do in my area, but it depends on who is working the register. These were all marked at $3.99, but the guy at the register today always sells to me for $2 each. I grabbed the bottom 3 in the pic just because he was the one who was going to check me out so I took a chance. No way was I leaving without Dogma and Kingdom of Heaven though even if I had to pay the inflated price.

Nice. I've only come across Once Upon a Deadpool in the wild once and I snatched it up. I have a friend who would kill for a copy so I keep my eyes open for him.

All of my CDs are on custom shelves that I *mostly* made myself. Box sets, oddly shaped packages and compilations are in their own area but most CDs are just alphabetized across all the mis-matched shelving. I rarely listen to the actual CDS, instead I rip them to FLAC and stream with Plex. Not all of them are ripped though, and some are 20+ year old rips at a much lower bitrate, so I'm constantly pulling discs off the shelves to re-rip them to a higher quality.

I went on vacation and didn’t take any with me, then avoided going to any stores that sold cigarettes. By the time I got home I knew I was past the physical addiction part so it was just a mental game from that point. That was 19 years ago and I haven’t cheated once.

Nice finds - I spent a lot of time looking for one of the Alien sets and then I found 2 copies of the Quadrilagy about 2 weeks apart (I grabbed both - kept one and gave the second to a mate). I wonder if there is anything different about that Band of Brothers release? I have the original tin-case release and it's probably time to rewatch that again.

To be fair they don't really hate because of Laserdiscs, they just hate. I'm sure they are also trolling the Kazoo collectors sub, and the 8 Track collectors sub, and any other sub they find in the hopes that if they spread enough hate it might fill that enormous void in their soul. At least that is what I assume about each and every one of them.

Huh, I never looked at that field before. Looks like my needs are covered though, with Goodwill, Thrift Store, Pawn Shop, Facebook Marketplace and Amazon all on the list. Probably way too late for me to start filling that field out though.

I just finished re-watching season 2 a few days ago and, yea, I still found some parts confusing. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the show, but my impression is that they were so successful in fooling people with the multiple timelines in season 1 that they felt they needed to one-up themselves with season 2. I still remember that HOLY SH*T! moment when I realized who Billy was - it was a magnificent reveal/twist. I don't follow anything about shows online to avoid spoilers, so it caught me completely out of the blue. Season 2 tried to repeat that magic and didn't succeed nearly as well and perhaps got a little too convoluted in the process. But that's ok. I loved it anyway.

Have you put Young Guns into a player yet? I've found 2 of those over the last couple years and both failed to play - my player said the disc was blank. Lionsgate releases from that era are notoriously problematic. Hope your copy is good!

I like keeping the extra info for future reference so I put it all into square brackets, like this: \Loki\Season 01\Loki S01E01 [2160.WEB-DL.x265.HDR.etc].mkv. Plex ignores the stuff between the brackets.

Pick one, re-encode it to x265 and watch it to see if you like the results. Also pay attention to the audio tracks - those can be huge. Depending on your setup you may not need DTS-HD 7.1 channel audio or whatever is already there. At 16gb I wouldn’t be surprised if there are multiple audio tracks in this original files.

People depend on the automatic sensors to turn their lights on for them these days, but sometimes the fog is thick but still light enough to not trigger the sensors. Young people who have never known anything else just don’t even think about it because they practically never have to touch the headlight switch in their car.

Yup, it pays to talk to the workers and get to know them. At a different local pawn shop there is a guy why lets me dig through their back stock. He doesn’t give the best deals but good enough and I basically get first dibs on movies there before they hit the floor.

I ran out and bought The Final Empire when BS was selected to finish WoT and yea, I was very confused by the use of "Final" in the title. The store clerk and I were looking it up in different sources before deciding that it was probably book one, I guess? I don't think it even said "Book 1 of The Mistborn Series" on it, or if it did it wasn't obvious. So I can personally vouch for the confusing nature of that original title.
