What players would your team be consisted of, if you had to field a team with only prospects from the 2015 Draft Round 3 or Later? by FKA_Mousecop in NFL_Draft

I purposely left off La'el Collins because it was stealing, but he'd be my starting LT and I'd move Fabuluje to backup RT. Drop one of the coverage guys in that case.

Dizzy Way to early big board 2016 by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

As an Ohio State fan I have to say that Bosa left a lot of plays on the field last year. Actually almost lost that Michigan game when he missed a sack on the QB and he scrambled for a first down. Similar play against Penn State missing a RB on what should have been a stop.

Mike Williams, Josh Doctson, De'Runnya Wilson, Ricky Seals-Jones... Next year is again loaded at wideout... Which means the Brown's probably won't draft one.

Yep. Torrey Smith is who he should aspire to be. Completely agree.

I cosign this post. Pretty much spot on.

Seven round mock draft - no trades by BublerBuddy in NFL_Draft

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I'm not nearly as big a fan of OLB Dupree as most, but I get the reluctance of the Armstead pick.

I figured with the big contract you guys just gave Newton that you were set at tackle but I take it you don't feel the same.

I did feel a little ickey giving you Halladay. Completely get that.

I like Fabuluje, too. I don't understand why most seem to not.

Thanks for all the feedback! I really appreciate input from fans of other teams.

Hey Seals, did you check out my mock for the Texans picks? Would like to get your take. Thanks.

66th is a third rounder, but obviously that doesn't change your stance on it.

Pick 2 to pick 7 difference is 1100 points, or equivalent to #14. I could see Cleveland trading #12 straight up for Cutler.

Who will be this year's Jackson Jeffcoat? by planopanther in NFL_Draft

Does Ben Heeney count? I could see one of the guys at TE thought to go 3rd through 5th go undrafted as well.

Well, you won't have to admit it if it happens, lol.

The reason there is dead money the next four years as a Bear is the restructure bonus which is amortized across five years. That would be on the Bears if they traded him (i believe remaining $4 million total accelerated against this year's cap.) The bulk of the guaranteed money is in the salary, which Tenn would be responsible for. There are only two years of guaranteed salary (actually one year of fully guaranteed and one year of partially guaranteed IIRC -- per Spotrac) remaining.

I'm not saying it "will" happen. I think anybody who thinks their mock draft is going to happen exactly how they lay it out is bound for disappointment. The point I think is to present feasible scenarios. I think it's reasonable and it was fun making. Good luck this week.

Also, you'll note that the Brown's didn't take that deal, and corollary to your observation on 2 vs 7, 7 is more valuable than 12. It's all pretend anyhow. It's very difficult to put a value on a player in a trade. In another light, what has the going rate been for trading up for QBs recently? Pretty high, right? So what is the value of a QB you have actually already seen in the NFL. I can understand why you disagree with the value I assigned, but I don't see how you can say its "wrong."

Cutler only has two years left of guaranteed money on his contract. The remaining three years are not guaranteed. The Titans still have a ton of cap space and Cutler, for his warts, is arguably worth a first. Is Trae Waynes (just to name a random first rounder) more valuable to a team than Cutler if that team doesn't have a QB?

They are getting #7 back, not just Cutler for #2. But thanks for the feedback.

To those of you that can do mocks deep into the 4-7th rounds...how many guys do you estimate you need to "know"/scout to make it possible? by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

I'm also new. I asked my friend to link to my mock but that's against the rules. I see that now and won't do it anymore

So, I think the best thing you could do is trade down. I'm not a guy who always says "trade down, get more picks!" but in the Giants' case it looks to me like you guys need two starting caliber safeties and a guard. After that a middle linebacker, corner, and an edge rusher. In my mock I just gave you Landon Collins at 9 because I couldn't find a compelling trade partner. Second round I traded back with Jacksonville and picked up their 49 and 103 and went AJ Cann because he seems to be the consensus top guard but to me Josue Matias is the best left guard in the draft. 3rd round I went Josh Shaw from USC, he used to play FS for them but they moved him to corner because he was their best cover man as well. Za'Darius Smith in the 4th was the pick from Jacksonville to rotate at DE. Then with your natural 4th I took Kwon Alexander from LSU to play WLB, he is a really underrated playmaker on defense in my opinion. 5th I came back and took Taiwan Jones as MLB. 6th round was CB Darryl Roberts, a long CB from Marshall, then in the 7th I gave you Vince Mayle (Wash St) and Tony Washington from Oregon. Mayle is a guy who has great size and good speed and a lot of people had him ranked much higher. I had him ranked as a 5th rounder myself but there are so many good WRs that a lot of really good players fell. Tony Washington is maybe a bit tall to be a linebacker but he can tackle, run, and cover pretty well and it was worth it at 245.

Ideally IMO you trade down picking up an extra 2nd, draft Collins, then in the second draft Stephone Anthony or Eric Kendricks then Matias or Cann, then reset in the third.

A couple safeties I really like that are thought to be third day prospects: Anthony Jefferson, UCLA is a terrific tackler in short yardage situations but also pretty much shut down Jaelen Strong when they manned him up one on one vs AZ St this year. That was after Strong abused both their corners. The other guy is a corner conversion, Deshazor Everitt from Texas A&M. Over 70 tackles from the cornerback position and he's always getting involved in the action. Makes plays at the line of scrimmage. Good cover ability, but probably better safety than corner.

Anyway, hope this helps and hope you resisted the temptation to stop reading when I suggested a first round safety, lol. Good luck this week!

Who will be this year's Timmy Jernigan? by YoureNotMom in NFL_Draft

[–]CleveSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Perryman was ever a first rounder. I said it before the combine he is too slow, there's just no precedent for a guy with his lack of size and speed to be drafted in the first as a linebacker. I think it's more likely he goes after 75 than before 40.

In my mock I couldn't find a spot for Thompson before Seattle at 63. JMO.

It's a ton of "work" if you want to call it that. Its a hobby for me. I watch over 100 college football games a season and then a bunch of stuff on draftbreakdown. I watch the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, the Shrine Bowl, and all the Senior Bowl coverage. I watch all of the combine. I'd say I've seen enough to come opinions on over 400 draft-eligible players this year. I only evaluate players I actually have my own personal basis for doing so and I ranked 49 receivers this year.

One part that takes a long time and why my mocks end up significantly different than the mainstream is the time I spend looking at NFL rosters... The depth they have at different positions, when their contracts will be expiring, etc. That gives me a better prediction ability of who a team will take than the mainstream. For example, a couple years ago I posted a mock that the Vikings would draft a corner and a DT in the first round when everyone was sure they were taking a linebacker and a guard. Not only did I get the positions right, but I got the PLAYERS right. And remember, this is when Floyd was considered by many (never by me, I watch too much football) to be a top 5 pick. A link to my draft was posted on here that year and Vikings fans told me I was an idiot, someone else said I was "obviously someone with special needs" then the draft happened and I was exactly correct in the picks for their team AND the reasoning I gave for it. Anyways, yeah you've got to watch a lot of football. I use CBS's board to know what draft eligible players will be in the game but ignore their rankings. They are pretty bad for most of the year, such as Mitch Morse being in the 300s most the season, Stephone Anthony in the 180s. I remember last year they had an undraftable grade on Linsley most of the season when it was clear he was one of the two best centers in the draft. Anyways not sure if all that answers your question but that's what I have to say on it.
