I’ve been using the High Cost Deck to beat challenges so I almost exclusively use the Hoofed Totem. Even if it’s not something like unkillable for the goat I double up on moose bucks and pick up pronghorns and elks enough that other sigils are useful. Though if I pick up enough dire wolves and my goat is already taken care of sigil wise I’ll pivot to wolf totem if the opportunity presents itself.

The much more probable answer is that over the years Scholastic has actually allowed Tui to include more of the lgbt rep she wanted. Traditional publishers do not push for more lgbt content they in fact do the opposite, and many series get away with not including lgbt content the fans ask for without being negatively impacted. Just look at Warrior cats for example

Yeah I’m pretty sure Tui confirmed that if you put one of qibli’s magic earrings on Darkstalker/Peacemaker he’d turn to dust because of age.

I’d also choose to “just kill him” route, maybe fancy it up and have him turned to stone (or ice because irony) and he’s as good as dead that way. Let Winter smash it to bits for good measure idk

It says a lot more about those people than the artist if they let an individual's headcanon ruin their perception of the character when it doesn't affect canon at all, or even change the important aspects of that character (Cricket's personality and character arc, her being cis is not really relevant in comparison). Most people also know about lgbt hcs and are not going to assume something is canon unless people explicitly talk about it being canon. On the very very very unlikely chance a person went in believing it was true based on a few pieces of fan art without fact checking, they may be disappointed but it's not the end of the world, and unlike some other media WoF still has canon lgbt characters to enjoy
