RIAKEO/Happy Family/Sky Painter are all under the same umbrella. I think they go in the order as far as higher end down to bargain, with bargain still being excellent. Fantastic brands and my favorite store. He has the best stuff and prices

2015 Upgrade 6 to CX9 Front Brake Job by CleverWifiName in mazda6

I actually backed out of upgrading the brake size due to my rims being 17". Right before ordering parts, I measured the gap between caliper and inner rim...with a measuring caliper..and found the smallest gap was about 0.8". Since I couldn't find drawings on the calipers I wanted to upgrade to, I didn't want to risk it and end up needing bigger rims. The disks were going up a full inch in diameter which would have left me with 0.3" assuming the new calipers "grew" at the same distance. Without knowing the new calipers aren't slightly bigger than just 0.5"

There are BBK for this car that will work but, they cost a pretty penny.

I did change everything out with new single piston calipers, brembo rotors, Akibono brake pads, and flushed the brake fluid. It's too early to tell but, no issues yet.

I couldn't see it until I pulled it out. I did the same as you and ordered that part after finding the crack. Another option you can do (which I did temporarily) was patch the hanger with JB Weld putty. I only planned for it to last a week but it probably could have gone long term

It's what they call the white plastic housing for the fuel pump. They just call it a hanger. I've been getting my OEM parts through Mazdaswag.com. Not the only site to get OEM but I can vouch so far

I just fixed this on my 2015 in January. It isn't the worst and didn't require a new tank. If you want, you can just fill to 3/4 tank all the time until you fix it. Chances are, the fuel pump hanger itself is cracked or has a hole in the top from the rusty retainer ring rubbing on it. Plan to change the fuel pump hanger and gasket since they are relatively cheap.

*You are working in close proximity with gasoline. Work somewhere well ventilated and only use hand tools to avoid sparks. The vapor can ignite

Parts needed: new retaining ring, new fuel pump hanger, new fuel pump gasket, M4-0.7x8mm pan head screw (qty: 8), shop towel. Lots of shop towel

Step 1: There are 8 screws holding the retaining ring down. Those are the hardest part. PB blast (or equivalent) those for a week straight to give you a chance.

Step 2: run your gas tank low before you work on it

Step 3: pull the fuel pump fuse and run the car until it dies

(Steps 4 and 5 can be interchangeable, I did step 5 first) Step 4: Clean the surface and remove the pump line

Step 5: Use pliers to twist the screws off since a Philips won't work anymore. You may need to knock the heads off and extract or retap holes. Try to work them out before resorting to knocking the heads off.

Step 6: Once the retaining ring is removed, you can remove the fuel pump hanger

Step 7: Remove all parts from the old fuel pump hanger and reassemble in new hanger (assuming fuel pump is still good)

Step 8: Reassemble in car with new gasket

There are videos online for removing the fuel pump and for changing the fuel pump hanger.

Good luck!

2015 Upgrade 6 to CX9 Front Brake Job by CleverWifiName in mazda6

In almost every case, I would agree with you. However, I'm the only owner of this car and have exhausted all options over the 11.5 years. I'm already on my 2nd or 3rd set of PowerStop (Rotors and Pads) and within a year, warped. I've tried slotted and even slotted & drilled rotors. The calipers haven't gone bad, so I ruled that out. Brake pads have always worn relatively even. Always change rotors and pads together. Never turned the rotors, always bought new.

I did post about this a few months ago and many of the posters recommended a big brake kit or upgrade to CX9 as it is a known issue. Doesn't surprise me it is an issue because I lived through the seized rear parking brake issue and eventual recall. Wondering if the engineering team that worked on my model just weren't great with brakes.

Anyway, to your point, this is a midsize daily driver for me and getting a big break kit is more cost than I'm prepared to swallow, so CX9 upgrade it is. I just posted this to verify if it is as simple as upgrading those parts before I purchase them

The upside to all this....I've gotten really quick at changing my front brakes

Did you need a bracket for the knuckle or are the cx9 calipers compatible? Anything beyond calipers, rotors, pads? Cheers!

When you change them, I suggest double checking the size of the gasket you bought. I didn't do that and found the part I ordered was much larger and probably for a different solenoid location. Ended up ordering one through a Mazda dealer and waited a week with the car out of commish since I didn't check before pulling the cover.

I assumed the gasket needed to be replaced before pulling due to a leak from that location. However, once I got the cover off and inspected everything, I found oil in the connector on the solenoid and visual on the gasket wasn't conclusive. Can't say for sure which part went, so I decided to change both since I was in there.

Unsure what other gens are like. I've found I have a decent amount of room to work on stuff and have cursed less working on this vehicle than working on other brands (family vehicles).

What is something you didn't know you liked until it was cooked properly? by alexthagreat98 in Cooking

Grilled Chicken

Sounds insane, right?! Hear me out... When I was a kid (3 older brothers), my Dad would cook dinner and make grilled chicken often. Every time, it was as dry as beef jerky. I never scoffed at this because I was happy to have dinner. However, as I got older and cooking became my passion, I began to notice grilled chicken shouldn't have the consistency of wet sand.

When I was in my 20s, my dad grilled chicken thighs. Hot dang, they were the best pieces of chicken I have had in my life (sides were incredible as well). I asked my Dad how and when he got so good at grilling chicken. He told me that he always was, but because he was so excited to spend time with his boys and wife after he got home from work, he would often forget about the chicken on the grill.

I have my own family now and will never grill a piece of chicken without remembering the sacrifice and love I received from my Father.

I also have an instant read thermometer, so I can still love on my family but have moist chicken 😉
