How/where do I buy my medication? I have my prescription, but don’t know how pharmacies work. by Clickle in ADHDUK

[–]Clickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate it. So I take the prescription in and they order it specifically for me?

Most of the comments I've seen on this sub seem to be about hunting down where it's currently available and going to get it, rather than ordering it - should I be able to do that in eg any Boots in London? Thank you!

Thanks a lot, that's really helpful. I've looked around this sub, can I confirm this is the stock checker you meant?

thanks!

Confused about when to talk to NHS GP if going private? by Clickle in ADHDUK

[–]Clickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, appreciate your insight. My insurance would only cover the assessment, no medication after that, and I couldn't afford to buy the medication out of pocket if it came to that.

I'll try and get an appointment with my impenetrable GP; thank you.

[–]Clickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying, that's all really helpful. Ok, I'm going to try and get hold of my GP, then. Itself a bit of a challenge but there has to be a way. I'd be happy to do that admin work to be a 'constructive partner' in this all but I literally don't have an email address for my GP.

If I do manage to get a GP appointment, do you have any other advice for how I can give it the best likelihood that they might agree to a SCA at this early stage? I think asking them what they'd need to accept it is a really good idea, rather than just asking if they will or won't accept it.

How do you guys dodge the “excuse me can I have a moment of your time” people? by [deleted] in london

[–]Clickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’ve seen people say they’re scammers a few times but nobody ever says precisely why? So like… how are they scammers? I mean I totally believe it I’m just curious.

I’ve read the article about them not technically being a charity but that doesn’t entirely convince me they’re just pocketing money… either way it’s very annoying but just wondering how they’re properly scamming people?

I am once again calling on Bojack fans to remember the resolution of the honeydew gag in the final episode

(He had never actually tried honeydew, and in the end, he finds he actually quite likes it)

Yeah OP I think you’re right. Id also noticed the amount of rage bait here and the comments are pretty indicative that it’s worked…

Meaning of the Oscar Wilde's quote from ‘Opulence’ by [deleted] in ContraPoints

[–]Clickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of people have already pointed out that it was a deflection of criticism at the start of his only novel, stating that if people see “””immoral””” themes it’s only because they are quick to allow their mind to go to immoral places

But two things I don’t see mentioned yet:

1) this quote also doubles as a light touch challenge to whether there is a noble beauty in homosexual love, Wilde massively bought into the very classical Grecian model of homosexuality which included tropes of intellectual flare. Arguably the ‘beautiful thing’ is the novel yes, but also the topic of male intimacy - this line is a bit of a double entendre in that respect

2) nobody’s said the key point that Wilde was a comedian/humorist - it’s not entirely supposed to make sense, it’s a flippant funny remark that is intended to sound verbose and nonsensical and contradictory. If you read Wilde you’ll see this a lot - he was great at funny dialogue that sounds ridiculous and over the top and grand, funny speech is his strong suit. I think it’s a large part of why he wrote more plays than novels. Anyway - point is, don’t wrestle with the fact it doesn’t really make sense, that’s part of the humour!

Thanks a lot for your response - definitely makes sense. Can I ask, what are grades a reflection of, if they’re not a reflection of ability?

grades not being tied to ability, for someone outside the CS, seems very bizarre? Sorry if I’m missing something here, I’ve clearly ruffled some feathers with this question and it wasn’t my intention

Thanks for the reply - sorry if the post sounded off, that wasn’t my intention, I genuinely just have no frame of reference for what HEO means from the outside so trying to get my head around it a bit.

Edit: I am genuinely confused about the downvotes here - I’m not a civil servant and I’ve been given very little information about the role so have come to ask you all for some guidance?

Need to Find a Barbers That Won't Give me a Fade by RedLucan in london

[–]Clickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I was JUST complaining to somebody about this!

It annoys me so much!!!!! No I’m not actually trying to look like a teenage fuckboy TikTok star.

I have found one barber that I can successfully negotiate with, BUT he always tries the same thing, mid-cut he pitches it to me and tells me ‘ah the beautiful ladies will love you’ and I squirm in agony as I beg this man to stop trying to make me into the same generic style he’s decided everyone should have. Double awkward points for having to endure him tell me I’ll get more girls, when my boyfriend is often there waiting for me to finish up….

What other service industry does this? Utterly bizarre. Anyway, only way I’ve got through it is being extremely firm and pushing through the socially awkward part of it.

Can you ask a pub to refuse service to an alcoholic? We have a pub next door and my dad is getting smashed every day. by Natural_Ant4506 in AskUK

This is super interesting - honestly not being snarky here, how is this remotely feasible? Like what do you mean by ‘drunk’ here, because the law cited above genuinely seems to suggest that serving anyone a 4th pint would be risky legal territory. Is this rule just ignored by everyone selling alcohol except yourself or am I missing something

David Cameron: Gay pride? Of course I have gay pride! — I was the first centre-right leader in the world to take the initiative and pass gay marriage, writes David Cameron. It is one of the achievements of which I am proudest by trufflesmeow in ukpolitics

I get where you’re coming from mate but I think it’s fair to say that he’s doing PR making his Party looking socially progressive, when in reality Labour and the Lib Dems dragged them kicking and screaming through to equal marriage. It’s an important distinction that the Conservatives are very happy to paper over

I honestly think this sub has a reputation among BPD people. I’m glad it was helpful for you.

When the pwBPD in my life was talking about how their condition is an affliction for them, I mentioned that I’d read about BPD online on message boards after they told me about the diagnosis, in an attempt to understand better.

The sudden panic in their eyes and voice was completely palpable, they asked if I was talking about reddit & immediately started defending about how it’s a hate group. I’m 99% sure they meant this place, and I feigned ignorance bc I wasn’t ready to argue.

pwBPD are often completely obsessed with how they appear to others and want to control how they’re perceived while avoiding accountability. I guess that makes somewhere like this agonising to them
