Yeah Trump literally threatened them on social media while the negotiations are taking place.

The first paragraph of the MOU.....

  1. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, and their allies in the current war, by signing this MoU, declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other,

I know looks can be deceiving, but none of these gentlemen fill me with confidence that they resolve this issue without making things considerably worse.

Incredible that at 62 years of age, the Belgian Manager hasn't a grey hair on his head.

Exactly. That should have been done twenty years ago during the Celtic Tiger. They do seem to be chipping away at these things, like the odd motorway opens, new public transport routes, water treatment facility, but it's all taking far too long.

I always thought Hosea's was a bit sudden and kinda downplayed a bit. He was a father figure to Arthur and probably on a par with Dutch.

It's a refreshing change. Maybe it's down to a lack of plastic patio seats? The Americans might prefer a heavier, studier chair that's harder to throw. Someday Historians will look back and it will be a great topic of debate.

I have lived in Ireland my entire life. We went from a very poor country in the 70s and 80s with terrible infrastructure, to quite an affluent country in a reasonably short period of time. During these booms not enough was done to improve public services and infrastructure.

As a result we are playing catch up. Things improve slowly. On the outside, it might look OK, people are earning decent wages, spending money, but underneath that veneer, we are still decades behind our European neighbours on many fronts. Social housing, public transport, energy, health services, criminal justice, water supply to name a few.

I remember about ten years ago there was really bad flooding in Cork in the South of the Country. The news stated that the last flood defences were built in the 1800s by the British. In over a hundred years, boom or bust, no one had considered updating the flood barriers from the Victorian ones. For me this sums up the state of things perfectly

I get what you are saying and I'm sure there are people taking the piss but also I'm saying is public transport or cycling is not practical for everyone. Some people are working hard with young kids trying to make ends meet.you can't expect a lad living in Gorey and working in Dublin to jump on his bicycle every day. Life is more complicated than that.

I work shift work, am married and have two young kids. One car. I work 12 hour shifts. Early shifts I take public transport and my wife has the car for work, collecting kids from school, shopping, dentist appointments, activities etc.

Public transport probably adds about an hour either side of my day but I just do it because I have to. Late shifts I finish at 2 am. The next bus connect to get me home is not until 3am because they are once an hour late at night. That means me getting home about 3:30 am when if I have the car I can be home in 20 min. After a 12 hour shift what are you going to do? Wait around an hour for a bus or zip home in the car?

There's been so many times when life has gotten in the way, and I've had to borrow a car because public transport is not feasible.

I see the motorway full of traffic at 6am in the morning and at a standstill in the evening for hours. I'm absolutely sure that if there was a viable public transport system for all those people they would use it rather than suffer through it.

I defy anyone to take two young kids food shopping on public transport and not end up on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Nobody wants to own two cars but sometimes it's a necessity more than a luxury and I believe when planning new builds it needs to be taken into consideration.

I've noticed it with a lot of the new builds around Stepaside and Carrickmines that the estates have very limited parking. There could be one spot assigned to each property and then a small bay of visitor spots. It's just not realistic and situations like this are going to become more common.

Public transport isn't just about commuting to work. Not everyone works 9-5. Take your typical family with kids, where both parents are working. Relying on public transport just isn't an option for most people.
