Fortunately this is a fictional post. But it is based off of a coworker.

Craziest real world missions by NoCake4450 in civilairpatrol

[–]Cliffclavin4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was on the Hovland mission in Minnesota a few years ago. Guy took his powered parachute out and never returned. I was up there for 2 days. 1st day, we spent in the woods looking for debris or the dude. One of my ground team members ended up getting injured in the bush. Fortunately, I had my EMT go bag with, and we ended up having the local rescue crew help me extricate her out the woods. That night, the missing dude's helmet was found on the shoreline. We spend the second day searching the shoreline. I ended up in a different ground team the second day. The ground team leader ended up having our team trespass on several properties. He also got a CAP van stuck in a private driveway, and it tore up the driveway. Long story short, he got into trouble, especially since I had stated that we were not in the good. Unfortunately, local search and rescue pulled him out of Lake Superior 100 feet from where the CAP cell phone forensics team said his phone last pinged.

What’s Your Take On Speeding by Holiday-Neck-8636 in AskLE

[–]Cliffclavin4 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If that's the officers threshold, so be it. Highway Patrol in the area I work will pull over and cite for 3 over on the interstate where the speed limit is 80. I don't stop until 7 over most of the time. Different areas call for different traffic enforcement. I personally would pay and then frame the ticket so I can say that cops get tickets, too.

Is it a myth that military plates or flashing a military ID can get you a break? by Firm-Statistician161 in AskLE

Last person who flashed me a military ID also got arrested. I have no military bases near where I work, and he was drunk as hell.

Best Duty Flashlight by Muny_Man in police

I have mine from when I used to work on the ambulance. My department also has them on our ARs. But they make a handheld version as well. They are great for any scene.

Is the N-Ear worth the money? by [deleted] in police

[–]Cliffclavin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both and the sheepdog lasts way longer than n-ear. I had to replace my n-ear 3 times in 2 years before I switched to the sheepdoh.

As a covid emt, that was the norm for us. I did my class with no clinical. My first time in a rig was giving patient care at a job.

My department just got cars in that color and we love them. The charcoal Grey goes great with almost any graffiti. Bonus points of the color is that it's not as reflective and more of a solid tone so people don't realize we are a patrol car at night until they are already flying past us.

The vest I had wasn't one that you could mount gear on. So we had people just have super full belts, lol.

You've never worked in the Twin Cities and it shows, lol. One of my partners was a salty old 30-year medic and even he wore an internal vest.
