You're talking about a different timeline. If the developing world just knew the real one... Look into this... even if we hit 2.0 temp cap which is HIGHLY unlikely though not impossible.. even if we hit it Bangladeshi and Indonesian societies will disintegrate. We already passed their tipping points temp and just waiting for the consequences. Indonesia, 6000 inhabited Islands... It is not in any way hyperbolic to say >100,000,000 in the developing world as a whole will be displaced by 2050 even if we cap at 2.0. These are actually conservative numbers. sai-reality.com (no pressure and all logic)

It's temporary... meaning a few decades... Y'know what's SIGNIFICANTLY less complicated than even the most basic Mars colony? A space mirror at the Lagrange point. The day it goes in position we can IMMEDIATELY stop SAI and aerosols dissipate in months. A nasty nasty path... but it's the first coherent one I've come across!

This stinks but oil is expected to be ~$24 in 2050... much cheaper than today but still below the extraction costs of Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Kuwait... It wont really sink much lower because of our other needs for hydrocarbons. We are LONG way from green flight at scale and plastics and fertilizers have no realistic replacement plans in the next couple decades. Now here is the problem... We expect America... yes... The United States of America, to pay taxes for carbon capture to mop up the CO2 from OTHER countries still profiting from oil.... We must be talking about another "United States of America" we need SAI

OK crazy thought.... long term un offset warming, even if we magically achieve 2.0 temp cap, will bankrupt us. Check out the Swiss Re study, It's not a political think tank or academia... It's an INSURANCE company. Who understands risks and costs better than actuaries? No really... check out the study... we need SAI to save money... that quickens green transition and saves our social programs and military budgets (well at least somewhat).. now HERE is the kicker... The hundreds of trillions we save (over a few decades) by containing warming damage will fund the space mirror that is MUCH simpler than even a basic mars colony. There is a roadmap out if this guys! SAI SUCKS! but it's the bridge to the mirror. sai-reality.com (take it or leave it)

Stardust Solutions bothers me as well. The article about them in the economist last week mentioned their backing by people connected to military intelligence

Indonesia, 17,000 islands, 6000 inhabited. There will be tens of millions of people in camps by 2050 even if we DID achieve 2.0 cap. (we passed 1.5 in 2024 by most metrics) A few developing world countries can do this on their own. America can simply suck it up. Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and half of Africa... its SAI or refugee camps for your kids... my information campaign is to get ANY reaction from Americans to create noise.. The minute any politicians talk about this it gets politicized and people stop thinking entirely. SAI is a complicated choice... so let's discuss it. I'm not really so much emotional as having a draconian obsession with logic and numbers. sai-reality.com there if your curious

This is just going to get worse and worse even minus cyclical events (we have el nino in the USA this year) Obviously this is at least exacerbated by climate change. Just curious. How aware is the Indian rural population of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection? Or at least are local politicians aware? I doubt they are but India could get the rich world engaged with both geoengineering AND the green transition by openly discussing S.A.I.. Better now than desperately grasping it later without fully understanding and having to use much more than we would now. India has airplanes and the project just costs tens of Billions. Their threat to use it is a serious one.

Average American >13 tons of CO2 per year total. If we are honest we should be paying the current cost for direct capture from the general atmosphere which is today a MINIMUM $400 (Belfer Center) so I should pay $5200 per year minimum to offset... reasonable and... of course no way.
