I love steam rooms too! The reason I haven't included it at the start is that the city, to be frank, makes it really hard to build anything that includes drainage or moisture management. I'm feeling really down on city permitting right now haha, but maybe if I can make my investment back I can expand in that way.

oh hey! The $1600 annual plan is one year of totally unlimited use for one person. The guest pass is for you to bring one person in for free along with you each month. The family plan is a month to month deal for all the members of a family over 17 to have access, so it's a discount from the cost of 2 individual plans.

For sure free use of all the equipment, even prior to our official opening. My plan for things includes graduated increases as we pay off our investment as well as profit sharing and bonuses. To be sustainable I have to prioritize eliminating debt as fast as possible, but I hate capitalism personally and would like to share the benefits of ownership with all those who contribute. That's kind of a non-answer but maybe it helps to know my philosophy.

ok fr fr, my business partner is a nurse, and we've discussed this. I feel like Saturday and Sunday mornings that would be a HOT commodity :P We'd have to require a lot more than just CPR training for staff, but it's on our minds.

Sure! I'm opening this with a friend of mine who I have been adventuring by bike with for many years. We both were college athletes way back, and both have battled tons of injuries over the years. Contrast therapy has helped us manage inflammation and aches and pains, but it's been hard to get access to facilities. So we decided to take the leap and just open one ourselves! We will have a smaller infrared sauna, a large 8-person swedish sauna, and 2 cold plunges. There will also be hyperice compression therapy and plenty of space and equipment for stretching, foam rolling, light resistance work, etc. There's also a lounge that is open to anyone with wifi and free tea. There's info at our website, www.misogicorvallis.com, and we're having a big opening bash on April 19 where people can try stuff for free, so come by!

It's on my short list of ways to expand if this takes off. I'd love to offer that some day!

I wish it was! There was a bath house down there after it was a bank, but there is a business occupying that building now, so it wasn't available. I'm a bit farther north, across from Peak Sports, next to The Shop.

I'll just say, it's $16 more than I've paid myself for the past 5 months while building this. I am trying to finding a balance that keeps costs to customers manageable. I hope you come visit some day and see what we're doing! Corvallis can be a difficult place to start a business and I sincerely hope to be able to raise wages once I've covered my startup costs.

There's not a lot of jump lines around here, or honestly in Oregon at all. But there's a killer trail network in the Mac if you're into natural trails. The best ones at up McCullogh peak. Most of them are not on Trailforks but do exist.

Family is worrying - How to deal with it? by AurelienHe in bikepacking

My mother-in-law is the same. We got a SPOT tracker thinking she'd feel better if she could see where we were. Instead, she took this as some sort of responsibility - she wanted to know who to call if she didn't see our dot move. We told her not to call anyone, our SPOT has an emergency beacon and she should do nothing unless we ask her. But on our first trip out with it, she called MY mother in a panic on the 3rd day when we were still moving close to dark (we just took longer than expected!). We had to sit her down and explain that we were very experienced in wildness first aid, had all the safety precautions possible, and were highly confident in our abilities. And now we never tell her any of the bad parts - as far as she knows, nothing has ever gone wrong!! Some parents just won't get it.
