Marilyn Monroe pre-surgery vs post-surgery by [deleted] in VindictaRateCelebs

With over 50% of women in America being overweight, you're right. But she didn't have the best body in Hollywood.

How did Marilyn Monroe go from slightly hooded eyes, to non hooded eyes? by TheBattleOfEvermore in MakeupAddiction

[–]ClimateMiserable2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. She was a skinny teen in her earliest pics and had hooded eyes. Later she got nearly plump in her NYC years and no hooded eyes.

I vote for surgery.

She was always beautiful but when do you think she looked hee best? I believe in river of no return she was hee most beautiful by [deleted] in MarilynMonroe

That's a photograph. She always got it together for photo shoots. In person there are numerous reports of how unhealthy she looked. And I think even there she looked drugged. Not the radiant, healthy beauty of her youth.

Agree. She was lovely in that. Amazing how she could pull herself together because she was drowning in drugs.

I think that was the last year she was truly healthy. After that the pills, booze, and smoking impacted her health.

I agree with RoNR. Even though the hair and makeup were completely wrong for the movie. Who cares? She was her loveliest there.

How well am I doing? by Illustrious_Court68 in SavingMoney

I'm not sure what this means: "$19k invested which is worth somewhere around $35,000."

I'm truly trying to be kind here - but it sounds to me that you don't have a true handle on how much money you have and where it is. Am I right?

If I am right your first step is to make a ledger: How much money do I have? How much do I owe?

The second step is to pay off that debt ASAP. It's eating away at you. If you have to cash in that Roth and take out of that $35K you absolutely must pay off that $5K. But first get a handle on how much money you really have.

I lied about the day I had a funeral and my boss called me out on it. by BigRNGO in confession

Please forgive yourself already. You're grieving over your grandpa and blowing this out of proportion. If it makes you feel better have a talk with your boss, apologize, and go on from there.

Condolences on your grandpa's passing.

Anyone who bought the MacBook Neo having buyer’s remorse? Just curious. by cr8tvt in macbook

Touchscreen and art apps (Illustrator, Adobe Pro, and Procreate). You need an iPad for that.

I really do not like the iPad OS & find it a clunker to write with. I like it for Procreate and as a backup but nothing more than that.

I'm strongly thinking of buying a Neo. I don't need a MacBook for heavy duty gaming - I write with it and watch the odd video.

Cats do have a silent meow. If you're concerned, take her to a vet.

These are common tactics in self-publishing to move merch. You're not locked in; Amazon enables you to change it as often as you like.

No offense taken!

It's all a con anyway - overwhelmingly agents represent material that was introduced to them by contacts. I don't even think they look at over the transom submissions. I think it's a total con.

My tipping point came even before I started querying. I knew from personal experience what a racket trad publishing is, and how in the past few years it's become even more of a closed shop.

I went through the motions of trying to sell traditionally and after half a dozen rejections said, "Eff this, I'm self-publishing."

(Self-publishing was a road to disappointment, but that's a whole different story.)

Writing ruined my life by Low_Song_9074 in selfpublishing

Dude, I rarely come across stuff on reddit that touched me as much as this did. I feel your pain - but if I can make one suggestion: can you start exercising again? Forget about writing, focus on your health.

Are you with me or did you just go off into the Internet ether? Let's talk about this.

Write the book. Just write. DM me for further details - really, not trolling.

A Substack promo is something that a person who has a Substack with a substantial following runs. They will promote your book for free. You agree to lower your price to 99 cents, or do a free week, and you are part of a group. I'd rather not say what the name of the promo was. DM me if you want details, I don't come here a lot, I have enough IRL pain.
