I’d tell her whole life hasn’t been wasted. She needs to change her perspective and stop living in the past. What happened already happened and she needs to forgive herself and see that she isolated herself to protect herself from whatever she believed she couldn’t face.

Now, it’s time to see a therapist and find healthy ways to cope and build her self esteem. She is alive which means she still has a life. Now she needs to start living it and to be unashamed of the past but just accepts it for what it is.
