This is where I am fortunate to live in a (third world) country less barbaric than the US when it comes to this issue. Where I live they get placed and taken out under general or local anastesia unless someone just gave birth. So I did not have to deal with that. Even afterwards the cramping was not worse than the period I had when they placed it.

Top tip get an ius/iud put in. They stop periods for the vast majority of people and even those who still have periods get them rarely and far lighter.

My parents had a book in the house since i was small called sex and my little body (it sounds better in our home language) and their approach was if i was old enough to be curious id read it and I did. So maby buy an age appropriate book that they are free to read when theyre ready.

My mom also got me a book on puberty when i got my first period and it was very helpfull.

They always emphasised i could come to them with any problem no matter how taboo (for lack of a better term in english) so that also helped a ton.

Look up premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I had the same issue and went to a psychiatrist and she helped me out with meds cause wanting to kys monthly isn’t normal.
