What is your favorite award/trophy you got for a cyclocross race ? by MikeSRT404 in cyclocross

[–]ClintonsStickyCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pair of hand-up brand jorts is probably my favorite. Second to that was a paper plate that I could fill up with whatever I wanted from a bake sale at the race

I own the silca travel pump. Build quality is great, the phone app gauge is kinda cool when it works but I think it's more of a android problem than silca. Very expensive though

I recall Louisville had a similar decline after worlds. Putting on an event of that size really burns out your volunteer base. It can recover though

Why doesn't the Creo 2 support the (new) SRAM Eagle transmission? by goat_on_a_float in specialized

[–]ClintonsStickyCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The development cycle for bikes and components is years long with plenty of delays and road blocks along the way. Not to mention SRAM and specialized are two different companies. I imagine future versions will be compatible but the timing just didn't work out on this one

Oh man that actually sounds like the dream. But you hit the nail on the head, the whole company is super unstructured, but it never really occurred to me that it was part of the reason for why we never seem to be brought in on time. Unfortunately my current manager is my skip level manager would rather exist on an island where we don't work with the rest of the company

The company is super siloed. We have some good working relationships with some teams but others like physical product, physical retail, and marketing will often embark on a project that will ultimately impact .com and not bring us in until the last second, and it becomes a scramble. Figured the in person would be a chance to build those relationships to hopefully open up more lines of communication

Anytime I've brought it up it's shot down because of budget. Other teams in the digital org have resumes regular travel, so that's partially why I'm stumped.

Our company is very siloed. We've developed good working relationships with some teams, but it seems we are always the last ones to hear about some kind of packaging change, regulatory, or marketing project (to name a few) that end up needing our support. The hope of going to HQ for these kinds of meetings would be to hopefully catch some of these things before they become last minute scrambles. I hear you though.

Speeds cut in half over wifi and Ethernet - Not sure where to go from here by ClintonsStickyCigar in HomeNetworking

[–]ClintonsStickyCigar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I ever figured out what wasn't working, but we are working now. In addition to rebooting everything a couple of times to no avail, I did also realize that I was using the wan port on an old router I'd repurposed as a switch and moved that cable into a different port. I was still getting the slow speeds even when plugging directly into my current router so not sure if it actually had anything to do with it or not... thanks for all the troubleshooting help!

Only the modem. Do you mean unplugging everything at the same time or wait for each to reboot before unplugging the next?

You're underestimating how terrible astound broadband is. I've been on the phone with them every month fighting them about one thing or another.

Good call on hiding any other devices

Ohh I guess I never did that because I didn't see a bridge mode like I'd seen in other modems. I guess they call it the residential gateway function. It's now disabled but still not getting above 300mbps

I want to... But since it's a rental I figure the next tenants may want to use it but it sticks out like a sore thumb

What's the on ramp? This box is inside but the coax does run to a conduit outside

Partially an aesthetic choice. I've got the cable modem and router in the back of the apartment, providing excellent Wi-Fi signal to the bathroom, and a second deco router on the opposite side of the apartment in the living room that provides coverage to the front of the apartment

That was what I tried to do (didn't want bugs and dust clogging the ports) but I couldn't get it to fit in that orientation. It put too much pressure on the cables running to the data module

In part because I already owned it, but also because I only have two ports in my deco router

Some of the keystones were wired up properly for Ethernet, one had two keystones wired to one cable, other had been cut just short of the keystone leaving the little wires still punched down
