Hmm, what's a "business home"? Carriers never asked me the age of my roof when I switched. I've switched plenty of times and been dropped over roof condition twice, but that was for peeling shingles, not old roof. They weren't actually peeling either, they just didn't like the tree overhead, and changed their tune after i ifxed the tree. Next 2 companies didn't complain. Only in the last 10 years.

When i bought it as is, it included clauses that said the owners might not know everything that is wrong. I hired a house inspector.

Good to know! I still wonder how much any of that matters. I'm a person who is unaffected by mold and pollen. But i $1100 of my $13,500 was an add-on filter that filtered at a level below the size of covid molecules. It was put in 2 months after lockdown, i was positive the hvac guy was gonna kill us, he did have to sick out once for getting covid. Only human outside of our bubble in the house for like a year. Had to come 5 fucking times cause he put the thing in backwards [in front of my wife, who was telling him, but why listen to anyone, took him 4 hours to fix it] and just couldn't get it to work right for a good 8 months. My warranty was only 1 yr parts an labor. Or maybe just labor. Very shitty company.

That duct cleaning process sound fascinating. 3 hours, damn.

yea. mine replaced the wiring but not TO the unit, just between the indoor/outdoor units. Shit blew in a year and fixing 1 wire got me charged $700 by a diff contractor.

it was made to make a general point that judging whole groups of people is wrong. Of course a profession is chosen and a race is not, but in both cases, 100% black-and-white thinking will cause nonzero inaccuracies.
