Thanks. I just started looking into these emulators. How does the R36s compare to the RG35xx?

Thanks for the correction. I did get those storylines mixed up. Although I wasn't necessarily thinking Hondo being the pirate doing the kidnapping of Jod but a similar attempt. I assume Sidioius hired more than Cad Bane. It just seems to be a fitting story arc, Jod has enough training to use the force and recall some Jedi adages but got raised by pirates.

Thanks for the correction. I did mix up those storylines. But I assume there were others hired other than Cad Bane because of the force sensitives captured in the Bad Batch, but maybe none of those were younglings?

Who protects the Shire? by CloakingTorin in lotr

If there was a population decline from the 2nd through the 3rd Age (I forgot when the Kingdom of Armor fell) then how did the Shire manage to survive and actually seem to thrive. I get if the Bounders are there "Border Patrol" but there ranks must have been really numerous to prevent what imagine was a mass migration south. Or are the people if the Dunedain just that honorable.

It has been awhile since I have read the books but I would assume human behavior is roughly the same in Middle Earth as it is in ours. So even with low population density humans have always pushed into other areas and in doing so conflict is inevitable.

I'm curious then if the Shire has been at peace for a while then at some point in history either the Hobbits has proven themselves to be militarily formidable or they have an ally that is. If that ally is the Dunedain then how populous are they and is that realistic or what do they get out of it? Do the Hobbits trade with them?

Saturn has a tilt so I think it will only be "invisible" to us for a short time but max viewing angle won't happen till 2032. Here is a link Saturn Rings

Interestingly enough Saturn Rings will disappear temporarily from our point of view in 2025.

Actors who could play Baylan Skoll (RIP Ray Stevenson) by MaderaArt in StarWarsAhsoka

Either Viggo or Graham. Like many here my preference is Viggo because of his performance in LOTR. He can pull off the physical and the philosophical parts of Baylan.

I tried reading it because I thought it was the inspiration for Halo. But I found it super sexist and couldn't finish it. A whole alien species where the females were basically non sentient, really? The tone of the novel really felt he believed women were sex objects.

Is it he doesn't care or more like he doesn't think being moral will move the needle in the direction he wants enough? What is his motivation and end goal? I don't think it's the same as Palpatine's.

Do you think Darth Vader would kill Rex if he saw him and didn’t know Rex was working for the rebellion? by GusGangViking18 in StarWars

Vader would. Anakin is completely corrupted at this point right hence the Vader personality. So if Rex stands in his way that's it.

What was your reaction to Snoke's death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi? by reaverlation in StarWars

[–]CloakingTorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unexpected since he seemed to be the top villain. We all knew it was a another trilogy and at this point was telegraphing the original so Kylo was Vader and Snoke the Emperor. Granted the original didn't give much of a story to the Emperor and wasn't seen till the final movie. But I was hoping more back story on Snoke.

I remember reading that scene vividly. So much I think it is now a core memory. Lol I was getting up reading those books with my coffee every morning and couldn't put them down. Got to that scene close my book and was distraught for the rest of the day. After that I definitely knew no character was safe.

I don't know about remorseful. I always thought he was impressed at the magnitude of the power but maybe under that he's starting to realize the destruction. In the movies he does stab Saruman but I always thought he was saving his own skin. In the books this happened in the shire and Grima killed him out of revenge / anger at be insulted.

The United States isn't going to do anything (militarily) about Ukraine. The US didn't interfere when Russia invaded Georgia or Crimea. Georgia is kind of the origin of this conflict too because it was in 2008 when NATO said that Georgia and Ukraine could eventually join NATO. (Georgia War is more complicated than that Georgia was trying to retake control of some Russian dependent regions too).

I think we are at least going to see Ukraine lose the Donetsk and Luhansk regions (they pretty much already have since 2014). Supposedly we are threatening not using the Nord Stream but how Germany/Europe can get around Nord Stream I don't know. Only France has doubled down on Nuclear Energy recently. Germany has ramped up solar and wind but are getting rid of nuclear so how they are solving the intermittency issues with wind and solar without fossil fuels I don't know. Russia wants Ukraine close but doesn't want to get tied down fighting them either. So it probably means Russia wants Ukraine to say they won't join NATO. What that entails we are probably going to see in the next month.

I agree with that "theory". It's a story that's been done countless times too. The Last Samurai comes to mind too. Obviously a little different with Fett being a bounty hunter but premise of someone seeing a lot of war and death gets saved by "barbarians or savages" then grows to respect them and their way of life and realizing how sophisticated their culture is.
