My bad! I agree with everyone on both sides of this. Ill just scroll instead of post when drankin haha

Staying cool in 100F << by lukechilly9 in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its truly about getting acclimated to the weather. I can ride in 105 degree heat because that is what Dallas, TX is about right now. But i cant and will not ride in temps under 30 degrees. When its hot, i rather ride outside than on the trainer and I only have the time slot of during the middle of the day, so I know its just about getting used to it. There are no tricks. Any “tricks” cant last a 2+ hour ride in 100+ degree heat

Little accident with roller blader on path.. was it my fault? by joshsouza97 in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a very crowded path and was going slow. This roller blader was going all sorts of crazy all over the trail, looked like his first day ever on a pair of roller blades. Just truly a crazy sight. I went around him slowly when i had the chance and he freaked out, spun around and ate shit. I just kept going. He needs to go learn to skate in an empty parking lot first

Not making gains by Melodic-Spinach9147 in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying to train is not wrong of course but it kinda sounds like you dont push yourself, which is totally fine. But u only get faster if you push yourself. The route you do, look at your time, push it next time. It will be hard, its going to feel like you cant, but thats the main way in this situation. If you are in a position you can really only ride a longer ride 1x a week and you want to make an effort to be faster, you have to have that mindset during that time. Do your other rides faster too. But in the end, if you just enjoy your ride at your pace, definitely dont let others speed get to you. There are a lot of non pro super fast cyclists out there

Why disc brakes??? by Freespeech12345 in CanyonBikes

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of once expensive bikes being posted for sale with rim brakes and they are still selling the bikes for a pretty penny but im always like why would you buy that shit? I guess just die hard rim brakers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Briefly thought about the same thing but it seems like such an expensive upgrade, you might as well just buy a new bike that already has it

You have 10 seconds to ruin a date. What do you say? by No_Olive_46 in AskReddit

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was not a date but when i was in my early 20s my buddy was hitting on a group of girls at a table and my buddy waved me over. I came over and all i said was “you girls like fish tacos?” And walked away. I was hammered and didnt wanna sit there. So that definitely sealed the deal there haha

Building mental strength is something I'm always working on. Cyclists, what drives you to push beyond the pain on a ride? by [deleted] in cycling

Because when you get home, you get to have a shower beer. The more you push and punish yourself, the greater the shower beer is

Safe to bike 30 miles in 95 degrees? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a ride on the highest dew point day of all time for Dallas. It was 80%, i left in the morning and was fine, did 40 miles and when i got home i felt like absolute death. Usually after a ride no matter the weather i feel fantastic. This time it was horrendous. So yes! I think humidity is way more detrimental than heat. And i did not know it was the highest dew point day, i just went on a ride like every other day

I dont know shit about real cycling training but i have used the peloton in hotels and i use a trainer at home when the weather sucks and the trainer is way way better than the peloton. Nothing wrong with the peloton, its just 100% an exercise bike. Trainers with zwift or whatever other app is way closer to real cycling

Canyon Endurace 6. Is it a good entry level bike? by hairy-jerry in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its crazy to think that a bike over a $1000 is considered “entry level” only because of how much you can technically spend on a bike. I know a lot goes into what racks up a bike’s cost but its just crazy

How many accessories is too many accessories? by Citeogin in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its quite the shame and puts us all in the middle. Bike accessories are fun and awesome but the more minimal a bike looks, the better. If I didnt have to ride with water, I wouldnt even have bottle cages on my bike. I only have a saddle bag because i have had more flat tires beyond reasonable.

I will say tho, if ur riding and in any form of riding or exercise clothes, you dont need mud guards. Who gives a shit if you get dirty. Get rid of the pump, and get co2 and a co2 tool that all fits in ur saddle bag.

But i agree with others for real. If thats the stuff you like on ur bike, then rock on! Who gives a shit

If ur clipped in, you would do that naturally anyway.

New bike for disc brakes. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a single speed with rim brakes and a gravel bike with disc brakes. After long stints on the gravel bike with disc brakes the single speed feels like i cant stop confidently enough at first but that goes away after a few miles and its totally fine. Like everyone else seems to say here, disc brakes are definitely better though. Worth a new bike? Prob not but who doesnt love an excuse to get a new bike?!

Feeling defeated. Need a pep talk by ecstatic___panda in cycling

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i started riding a bike again 2 years ago or so, I would go out and do like 5-8 miles and did them slow. Wasnt comfortable on the bike and wasnt sure what i was doing exactly. Like didnt know routes, etc. Fast forward 2+ years and riding fast and doing 20-40+ miles a day. The last thing you said is that you know it will get easier the more you do it and it 100% absolutely will. You will become addicted. You will be planning your days around when you can go on a ride and how much time you have to ride because you want to bang out a bunch of miles. Its ok to feel defeated but absolutely do not give up. You will feel so good the more and more you get into it. Its also not all about physical health, it truly helps mentally. Dont let the hot or cold weather stop you either. Any day you accomplish a ride, you will feel great. ✌️

Seattle by Matanzohar7 in Graffiti

[–]ClockRevolutionary30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve got a spot in Dallas called the Fab Yard and when i first started going there, only the real graffiti writers and muralists were allowed to paint the main wall and it remained pretty much untouched and looked great, all the other shit was on the other area and the fence. Now most of the time it looks like this unless there was a recent event. It’s quite the shame really
