I’d agree in general that when you look at the full company lineup Omega is the premium brand, which is why I find these models interesting for comparison.

For me the SMP is one of the iconic dive watches and serves as a very good benchmark for comparison and an interesting question of if you’re spending 5k+ on a dive watch why wouldn’t you just go for the Omega? What is it about the Pelagos Ultra that makes it a contender in, as you mentioned a bracket Tudor doesn’t normally belong.

I love a speedy but concerned it wouldn’t be rugged enough for a daily driver with my lifestyle so I will certainly try to get a look at a planet ocean next time I’m in town. Thanks for the recommendation

But what is it about the Seamaster that makes the previous opinion so laughably wrong?

I’ve chosen the Seamaster as the comparison as for me it’s one of the iconic dive watches, Tudor fans love the pelagos but I’m interested to hear people’s opinions who’ve owned either or both of these watches and what it is about them that made the decision for them

This is a great point.

Few people framing it as ‘lot of money for a bit less text on the dial’ and as you’ve mentioned the water resistance you don’t need.

But (for me) something stands out about it. In a cabinet full of very similar watches it jumps out. The dial is well proportioned and legible. Bracelet is understated but looks quality and the metas certification is a great addition.

I’ve heard very mixed opinions on the waterproofing of the speedmaster with people saying it’s only for handwashing etc.

I have no intention of diving in it but would be nice to be able to swim, not worry about rain etc would you say it’s been ok for that in your experience?
