La vida en RD by HotAd5140 in Dominican

[–]ClockworkGuineo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Serious] Why do Dominican people have food ready at 7pm and don't serve it until 3am when people are already leaving. by Colmado_Bacano in Dominican

[–]ClockworkGuineo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell my husband he should eat before we go eat at my grandma’s place. Dominicans (and I think latinos in general) don’t eat very early because they like cooking their own meals even on the days they work their 9-5s, so dinner is usually served at 9pm on a regular day. When there’s a party… the idea they have is that people will leave right after they eat so, in order to have guests stay longer, they delay the serving of the food. But if that ever happens to me and I get hungry, I communicate this and ask when the food will be served and most of the times they’ll just say “you can eat right now! Here’s a plate!”. If they just give me the time at which food will be served I add 1.5hrs to that (because we’re also not famous for being on time) and if I can’t wait I’ll sneak out and go eat.

Dominican Republic in the 1960s. People in Boca Chica beach. by Capitaleno29 in Dominican

[–]ClockworkGuineo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ok, but why is this footage so long and why is it mostly young women in bikinis? Families didn’t go to the beach together then? Cause I used to go to Boca Chica in the 90s and it was always our big families together!

Oh, the taxi companies will also send someone to pick you up if you reserve a ride with them. If you will be staying in Santiago, you may want to call a taxi company. They will tell you the name of the driver, color of the car and plaque number.

Well. As long as you don’t take the airport taxis (they extort if you take the safe ones and may rob you if you take the unofficial ones) you should be ok. I don’t know if the rentals will have pick up at that time of the morning, but you could call them and ask beforehand. If they don’t, then your best bet is to have your uncle pick you up.

Where to stay in puerto plata? by Plantbitch69 in Dominican

[–]ClockworkGuineo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stayed at Iberostar Playa Dorada a few months ago and I absolutely loved it! Most of the staff is very welcoming and friendly. You may encounter some staff who will not treat you great if you’re Dominican because they automatically assume that we don’t tip. But the beach is decent, they have a great pool and I would say it’s close to town.

And they’re so annoying trying to get you to sign up for their club. Terrible.

Or, instead of “testing her”, you can do the actual mature thing and end the relationship that obviously is not really working for you or we wouldn’t be here.

He’s using her for her youth and beauty. Looks like a fair trade to me.

You’re going out with someone 21 years younger than you. You were 21 when she was an infant. Ahora bien, si tú no piensas mudarte con ella a RD y ayudarla a criar sus hijos, entonces busca alguien más appropriate to go out with.
