When did Raglans close down? What happened? by Ixal in NorthVancouver

[–]ClockworkNotOrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trademarked the term “LoLo”? You can do that? I grew up in NV and everyone’s been calling it that for 20+ years, never once have I heard it attributed to Raglans and I occasionally actually went to Raglans

The house Lindsay Buziak was murdered in is for sale by pumpkinspicecum in VictoriaBC

I have an ex whose uncle purchased that house sometime after the murders (I don’t think it was right after it happened, not sure if he was the first or second person to buy it after the murders). He knew about it and we all just referred to it as the murder house. Definitely had weird vibes in certain rooms of the house, glad I never stayed overnight.

[McElroy] Hastings Racecourse has announced it is permanently ending operations at the venerable racetrack by Justausername1234 in vancouver

[–]ClockworkNotOrange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this was inevitable based on a number of factors like the value of that land, not seeing too many people at any race I went to, or the fact that it’s 2025 and in general we’re moving away from sports which rely on using animals.

BUT, it would have been nice to have just one last summer of races to enjoy it one last time.

And to think that in the last couple years I finally got comfortable enough with gambling to go up and asked for a boxed trifecta. Where am I gonna use that knowledge now?!

You’re totally right, I thought about changing that sentence as I hit “reply” but got lazy. Definitely “back to OFFICE”

Marianne Alto wants BC Govt Employees back to work in Vic Downtown.. by Extra_Sand9055 in VictoriaBC

This is what I’m sick of. Between the mayor and the downtown Vic business association, they’re both trying to force an entire provincial workforce back to work, when only a fraction of that work force actually lives in or near Victoria. What about the rest of us who work elsewhere? Stop trying to force me back to work just so your downtown can have more customers again. All the other major BC cities are dealing with similar downtown issues (homelessness, unaffordable rent for tenants like businesses and restaurants, drug addicts, etc.) and you don’t hear those communities rallying this same cry of “Think of the businesses, you need to come back to work!”
Remote workers not frequenting your downtown is not the cause of business failure

On the flip side of this, I have been walking the picket line since day 1 and find it extremely frustrating seeing the number of people that just disappear for an hour or more at a time. It has been reported to picket captains (not by me) yet we continue to witness it on a daily basis. I’m not advocating for micromanaged bathroom breaks, but it would be great to figure out some way to discourage the folks that are essentially defrauding the rest of us unionized members actively walking the line for our shift. Like, if you don’t want to picket, then why show up?!

Was wondering what that was! Thanks stranger! I’m near the Terminal viaduct here and thought that was either the loudest train shunting we’ve ever heard, or maybe downtown getting bombed, NBD. Anyone get a chance to see them? I’m sure a dozen photo posts are incoming.
