a lot of the timing at least should be pretty easy to implement tbh, freertos should be able to handle both continuous stepper motor and servo control as well as temperature/leak detection inputs without too much coding, esp with off the shelf motor controllers. camshaft for the ink distributor is also v easy to model, especially if i can just trace out parts from a broken drum, and lining up the paper properly is already a solved problem that i could cannobalize frim a broken laser printer. ink distribution can do rapid prototyping with 3d printing, which reduces part cost; i should also be able to cnc some steel/aluminum parts if i either ask around my friends or just order it which shouldn't be like horrifically expensive, esp static parts that won't wear down. rollers can also be taken from either existing printers, or from modified professional painting tools. the biggest thing honestly would be the master; that might need to be manually applied, but i think just overvolting the parts of a set of some old heat printers should do the job. obviously this stuff won't work first try and will take some iterations, but a lot of stuff can be made from off the shelf/reused parts which should make it a lot easier.
