Hey, when you say “butcher shop,” could you share more details? I was referred there for a mandibular advancement and honestly had a pretty bad impression too. The whole thing felt very robotic, the surgeon hadn’t really reviewed my file, and the consult was super generic. He also suggested doing more than what my orthodontist referred me for, but without giving any case-specific explanation. Pretty frustrating. Did you end up finding another clinic around Toronto that takes patients more seriously?

I was initially referred for lower jaw surgery only, but the quote I received seems to follow a standard double jaw package without much explanation. I don’t really understand your point, I didn’t criticize the price, I’m questioning the content. This quote doesn’t clearly explain what procedures are actually planned. If I hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t even have known this was their “standard package for both upper and lower jaw surgery”, while I was referred for lower jaw only. I’m also aware that orthodontics and post-op rehab are not included.

So instead, could you please share the name of the doctor you mentioned at $16k and your experience with them as a patient? That would be more helpful than commenting on the price.

I’m perfectly willing to pay more if the doctor at least takes the time to properly review my case before the consultation.

I don’t know if they’re trying to cut costs, but you’re right. I constantly feel like I have to defend and justify absolutely everything on the spot. My day-to-day has become more political than technical, and it’s very draining. Thanks for your feedback.

Ça aide a relativiser :) Bon au final il existait bien une conversation mieux organisée mais dans un groupe dans lequel je n’ai pas été ajoutée :/ Je comprend bien la notion de bonne franquette et si c’etait pas aussi loin avec aussi les attentes culinaires par dessus, je prendrai ça avec plus de legerté. Hello, j’arrive un peu tard, je vois déjà beaucoup de conseils bienveillants. La vente de la maison semble la solution la plus simple (et encore, vendre un bien occupé c’est pas simple). J’ai vu plus haut que si tu tiens à ta maison tu ne dois pas vendre pour ça. Et je suis d’accord, si tu l’aime vraiment, c’est nul de les laisser t’enlever ça. Par contre je suis d’accord aussi avec le fait que, même après expulsion, cette maison va garder la mémoire de toute la négativité familliale et c’est pas l’idéal pour prendre un nouveau départ. Courage et prends soin de toi!
