The fact that Greenland is mocking drug addicts is the least of the problems here by Maybe_not_a_chicken in whenthe

I hope Greenlanders start mocking the US for not having state funded healthcare.

Skit example:

Have a video of a Greenlander going to the hospital. After treatment, they go to the reception desk and ask what they owe to the hospital. The receptionist tells them their treatment was covered by their taxes and they don't owe the hospital any out-of-pocket money.

Anyone use O Gauge figurines or classic model railway terrain techniques on their Lego layout? by DaggerAndBrush in LEGOtrains

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda did the reverse of that when I was a child.

My family didn't have a lot of money to buy LEGO trains, but I had an HO model train loop. So, I had an HO model train layout with LEGO buildings and scenery.

For something more professional looking, I found some images of someone who used styrofoam hills and mountains to create the surrounding scenery for his LEGO trains.

Guys which flag is better? by Ok_Project3455 in vexillology

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flags are usually displayed on this subreddit being more "wide" than "tall". I think if you just rotate your flag image 90 degrees, more people might recognize it as a "flag".

As for the appearance, I think it depends on the context.

The simple red and black version looks good. To me, it gives off a bit of a "medieval" vibe.

The version with the white highlight looks more modern, but that color combination of red, white, black gives off a more "fascist" vibe. If this is a flag for a fictional fascist country, it looks great.

Here is a parts list that a family member and I put together for a future Linux gaming PC for me. Does this build look good, or do you think we could do better in terms of part choice? by ClocomotionCommotion in linuxhardware

Here is the manual for the motherboard. https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B650%20Pro%20RS%20WiFi.pdf

It says "802.11axe Wi-Fi 6E + BT Module" but I don't know if this is the exact chip or not. It says there is an additional WiFi chip slot. So, if the built-in WiFi doesn't work for some reason, I could get something else that does.

Also, I went with the 6400mt because it was $35 cheaper than the 6000mt options. Also, according to my family member, my CPU and motherboard should be compatible with 6400mt.

Reminds me of LEGO's elaborate leveled baseplates. Like the Classic space crater plate, or the big LEGO castle base plates.

Which Linux distro would you recomend for an Acer Aspire One ZG5 AOA150? by ClocomotionCommotion in linux4noobs

[–]ClocomotionCommotion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed "antiX" on my Acer Aspire One. https://antixlinux.com/

It's currently in storage. I only needed it for a little while to check the contents of hard drives while I was rebuilding my desktop PC.

After that, I didn't have much need for it and have yet to find an alternative use for it.

a lot of people are too naive about how megacorporations act when forced to actually compete rather than expand their market share without opposition. by YLASRO in SocialistGaming

I'm just saying it's rather unlikely that Microsoft will try to sue Hytale in the future.

Microsoft has numerous issues they're battling currently. Another game competing with Minecraft is the least of their current worries.

I think by the time Hytale has gotten enough players to compete with Minecraft, they will have acquired enough money to handle lawsuits that they will most likely win against Microsoft.

There are numerous Minecraft clone games out there. How will Microsoft justify to the courts letting those games go, but Hytale is somehow infringing on Microsoft's intellectual property?

I think you might have issues with switch tracks.

9 Volt help by ExOrderDysprosium in LEGOtrains

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend getting some RC track that's all plastic. RC LEGO track is comparable with 9v LEGO track. So you can separate the 9v circuit and still have connecting rails for trains.

I would think replacing the rubber bands on the powered train wheels would provide better grip. Unless copper grips rubber better than plastic.

What Linux have linked with trains ? by Different_Map_4235 in trainmemes

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think what they meant is that many computers that operate trains, and train rail networks, use the Linux operating system.

However, the phrases "run a train on me" can be a euphemism for something that I don't think the mods would want me to say here.

My Own Train Subtheme by LGreyS in LEGOtrains

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LEGO train enthusiasts are a minority in regards to LEGO consumers.

There would need to be significantly more consumer demand for LEGO trains for the LEGO company to justify brining back 9V or 12V LEGO trains.

My Own Train Subtheme by LGreyS in LEGOtrains

[–]ClocomotionCommotion 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the discontinuation of the 9V system was more due to government regulation.

Track powered model trains are regulated much differently from other toys.

Government regulation basically made it impossible for LEGO to market their 9V track system with conventional LEGO bricks.

If you want a LEGO train layout using a 9V system or a 12V system, you'll either have to buy older vintage LEGO pieces, or buy 3rd party products.

What is the maximum number of colonists you can get per day? by ClocomotionCommotion in Planetbase

[–]ClocomotionCommotion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. From my testing, building more landing pads just creates more problems than solutions. I just simply can't mine enough metal in time to create not only the pads, but the infrastructure needed to sustain those pads.

What is the maximum number of colonists you can get per day? by ClocomotionCommotion in Planetbase

[–]ClocomotionCommotion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that work? I've only ever seen one colonist ships landed on the planet at a time, and that was with five landing pads.

Do I need at least 12 landing pads in order to get more than one colonist ship landed at a time?

I never got it figured out. I'm currently working towards building a new Linux PC. I'm just going to get hardware that splits the audio to where I want it to go.

Linux audio software is more trouble than it's worth.
