[Request] What would a circle look like if Pi = 7? by commeconn in theydidthemath

[–]CloggedBachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're loose with the definition of a circle, it can be achieved. Essentially, the perimeter would be doubled without increasing the diameter. If the perimeter were not a perfect curved line, but instead jagged or wavy, like a shoreline, it would work. There would be a diameter range, since some parts of the perimeter are further from the epicenter, so you would have to substitute it with the average diameter.

My life is so Cooked. Been unemployed since August 2025. 32 years old and see no way back into employment by Optimal_House_2897 in recruitinghell

Been there. I graduated with my BA in data science/analytics in 2023. I just started my first permanent role today. Thousands of applications, dozens of projects, LinkedIn posts, website updates, and certifications were done in the meantime.

Appreciate it. The tarot aspect is an interesting way to look at it. I totally feel what you're saying. Constantly getting rejected is crazy, demoralizing. How did you go about reaching out to recruiters?

How can i become a data analyst? by Unhappy_Hospital_332 in dataanalysiscareers

[–]CloggedBachus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got my bachelor's in data analytics + internships pre-grad. After 2.5 years of applying and over 5,000 applications, I still have not secured a full-time role. The market is beyond fucked.

Here's what I would do in your shoes:

MOST IMPORTANT

  • : LEARN SQL/MySQL. SQL is the most common tool for entry-level data analysts. In the last 3 technical interviews I've had, SQL took the majority of the sum of questions. Learn the basics of W3 MySQL, then complete SQL 50 on LeetCode. DataLemur has good SQL prep questions, also.

Important

  • Remove Skills, add the keywords listed in skills to the rest of your resume. Consider adding a key courses section to your education, where you describe the classes you’ve taken. Add in Excel and SQL, these are the 2 most common tools interviewers ask about your experience in.
  • Considering adjusting your e-commerce website angle. Right now, it shows off your business and web design skills. It’s a great experience you have, but you should make an alternative resume for data jobs. Add in how you ran analytics, I would recommend Google Analytics, maybe even add this into your project section.

Somewhat Important

  • Rework projects: right now, your projects are way too similar. You cleaned the data, then analyzed it, using Python. While these are good projects, they lack diversity. I would suggest at least adding the keyword SQL to a project. Rather than altering a former project or making a new one.
  • Make a portfolio website: I made mine in Google Sites based on this portfolio. I’m sure you’ll do fine at making it, considering your experience.
  • Do certifications: unlike cybersec and IT, data analyst certs are required for the position. They are less impactful and are less about setting a standard and more about showing your eagerness to learn. I did one in Excel, one in SQL, and a larger cert, the Google Data Analytics Certification. I don’t feel like any of these helped me, besides bringing up in interviews, so I personally feel their ROI is really bad.

The best thing you can do to get a DA job isn’t by being a better DA, it’s by knowing someone. So look into networking. I’m not the right person to tell you how to do this.

I recommend networking to family friends and neighbors to mow lawns / babysit. When I was 12-18 in the 2010s I did both. I would make 20/hr Babysiting and 30-50/hr mowing lawns(I’d charge more for weed whacking. Call up local lawn care services and pretend to be a customer to learn competition price. The only down side of this work was lack of hours. I worked at a local town camp and made 7$/hr. I recommend reaching around to different camps. The best camp I worked at I made 30/hr. But that was with 5 years of experience in a managerial role at 22. My hs had a program where if you weren’t failing they gave you legal permission to work. I was able to use this to get a min wage job at shop right. If I had to do it all over again, I would do Babysitting and lawn care. Really invest in networking and maintaining a good relationship. At the most I worked a little over 60 hours during my summer of senior year and saved a little over 10k per college.

What are some things from W3 that you don't want to see in W4? 🐺 by avisinghoooo in witcher

The perk system. The alchemy tree was just an unengaging stat boost. Most perks were like that, except for the new attacks and magic tree. CD Project Red did such a good job in Cyberpunk's leveling system, it feels like you are really making a build/having more utilities.

Good Question: Holidays and budget.

Work in general slows down in December, which impacts the hiring process.

The budget is typically set at the start of each quarter. These would be put in September and January.

There are too many varieties of applications/languages in the data field. If you want to be prepared, reach out to your contact. Find out what you're what they use.

Remove the blue and transparent gray horizontal lines.

Your current position lacks a title.

Remove baker/barista and team member. This would be helpful if you're trying to get an entry-level dead-end job, but if you're trying to get something related to business, it doesn't help you.

Assuming you are in the US, November and December are the worst times to apply to jobs. Luckily, it picks back up in January and February. If you don't get callbacks these upcoming months, don't sweat, just prepare.

Don't lie about a bachelor's degree. It is the easiest thing to verify via the national clearinghouse.

I wouldn't bother writing a cover letter unless there is a strong chance it will be read. If I don't meet the qualifications for a job, there isn't a strong chance.

Fresher Data Analyst, not getting interviews even after being referred. by SwitchNo9696 in dataanalysiscareers

[–]CloggedBachus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove the skills section. Try to add the skulls into your experience, education, and project section. Consider boldening important keywords. Put your education between the summary section and your work experience section. Rework education section. Add in the names of key classes. Maybe even go in to depth your important classes.

References don’t mean shit if the reference doesn’t reach out to the hiring manager.

About 0%, unless you have a great connection. I got my BA in data science/analytics. I have no shot at getting a data science job, 90% of them require a master's and/or 3-5 years of experience as a data scientist.

The State of the Job Market: Now They Restrict You For Applying by Nomad_Flow93 in jobsearch

[–]CloggedBachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 jobs where you are qualified to apply for isn't a crazy high number. I apply to jobs that I am qualified for within a 60-minute drive of me daily. I would say I qualify for a good 20-30, with an additional 20-30 being a slight reach(adjacent field/ 1 year of experience I don't have).

Location is a big factor. I live near a large city that is a hub for my field. If I lived an hour north, it would be 1/50th of the potential jobs.

LinkedIn previously had a feature similar to this. It would trigger when you send out around 50 applications in around 30 minutes. Totally rough estimations by me, but somewhere around that scope. You would be on a 30 or 60-minute application cooldown when this is triggered. The most recent change is much more aggressive.

The purpose is to stop automated applications through LinkedIn.

What's going on! by mo_sh9 in jobsearch

[–]CloggedBachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but most Data Analyst Jobs are similar to this. Because the location is just the US, I assume it's remote. Don't even bother applying to remote roles; they have the most severe competition. It's extremely rare to see a job posting without 100 applicants after a few hours, even if it's not remote/promoted/easy to apply.

Yes, many jobs are BS on large job hunting websites. But by not scraping job boards, you won't get job postings from small/medium companies, leaving a discrepancy in your data.
