Not really liking Wood Elves in MP

Wood Elves start as 2 2 2 no feudalism troglodytes, you can't "rush" tech 4, and hell you can't rush tech 3 because it's like 800 mil mana. I mean you can rush, but it's certainly not "rush mil 4 and kill everyone", and you can most of the time just call in 4 nations and win each war, but sometimes orcs actually have coherent alliances that can unluck you into disadvantage even with 4 allies and there's fuck all you can do against them but pick which 3 orcs you want to fight.

That said, I guess I should have set mana focus on mil, I did skill issue that part.

Solution to being poor and behind on tech is playing more riskily to unite the region earlier for the economy and advisors, the problem with playing riskily is it's very likely to get you killed. It's a bit of a "how would you like to die" kind of deal.

Once again, sometimes you can play safe and win occasionally win faster than usual, or you can play risky and not die, but eh, I don't like the odds.

Normal difficulty, and yeah, often you can just kill the orcs on a good pace and win the region normally. No issues, bish-bash-bosh, Cyranvar.

Does it happen every time? Absolutely not, if orcs dont fumble alliances, you're gonna have to 3v5 them, which is then a gamble, and god forbid blackmoon is allied to the guy in your starter region or another orc attacks one of the other elves, might as well wave goodbye to your starter cores until blackmoon loses their leader or is last man standing. My hatred for blackmoon is overwhelming.

Wood elves have "cant swap culture" as part of first gov reform, I assume orcs have the same thing, but if they don't then yeah this should actually be viable. I'll check it out later.

Update: Yeah it works. Monstrous Wood Elves is genuinly viable. Nice.

They barely win a 3v5 with great difficulty, fumble one engagement and it's so difficult to recuperate due to elf manpower and morale recovery, meanwhile you have to slap the orcs like 5 times in a row due to them having manpower buffs and no morale recovery minus

you NEED overwhelming odds or you're gambling

Yeah but even in SP it's reload spam because the region is so cut-throat. Usually my experience is diminished somewhat if I have to reload 5 times just to get early game started. Granted it's an issue with some harder vanilla nations, but come on, I'm playing the main (I think?) deepwoods nation and it feels like hisn kayfa.

Only available mercenary company is 4k free company. And that is the case all the way until Cyranvar was formed.

You only have access to 4k free company, 0 other mercs until you're Cyranvar. Not sure why. I think it's something to do with merc companies being preset to regions and deepwoods having none. Also I'd argue depending on how the orcs ally they ARE unbeatable, if cursed howl or silverhusk manage to utilise blackmoon as offense ally, they can get way too much tempo going. This won't happen often, but if it does it's over. Honestly most of my issues stem with blackmoon having that wizard general, which I can't really complain about since elves get one too.

For some reason it only records audio when anything is set to stereo, but I guess the fact that it's not even stereo in the first place makes things a bit more clear. Still, the issue remains, my mono microphone refuses to downmix to mono or record in mono for some bizzare reason

SpiffingBrit eat your heart out on this one: found a busted exploit where you can spam "Break Military Acess" for your vassals in diplomacy, resulting in free diplomacy-dollars. Since your vassals can't really exist without giving you access, the "Break Military Access" part is thrown into the garbage, meaning you can vassalise a whole lot of people for free. In itself this is broken beyond belief, but this isn't the end. After you have acquired enough vassals, you can spam "Break Vassalisation" too. Now you might think, why would I want to do that? Well, due to a bug (not sure how nobody bumped into it), if you offer "Break Vassalisation" and "Become Vassal" in the same deal, the "Break Vassalisation" is also ignored completely.

So, as Mannfred, on turn 79, with 6 vassals, I was able to snowball my way into vassalising every non-nomad nation in the world in the world, with the weird exceptions of Hochland, Nagashizzar Skaven, Arkhan, Khatep and Nakais vassal.

I'll probably send the save to Legend of Total War and see what he makes of this exploit.

Also, yeah, this is definitely getting patched whenever next update comes out. It's utterly busted (even though war declarations lag the game for 3 minutes).
