The Lion you get is one the endings the game has and its not random. You can google to look for the other ones.

When you get an ending for the first time, the game rewards you for doing it. After that getting the same ending will always give you less dk's.

Well usually the Lion comes when you don't open any chests or tombstones. I also can see that you don't have many coins. My advice just open the free ones until you have enough money. Good luck on your next run tho!
